Hi all.  I am Sheri, 37 years old and now "cured" from epilepsy.  I had brain surgery in 1990 where my right temporal lobe was removed and since then I have had no seizures.  I think I have small auras still but not enough to worry about.  I was taking 4000mg of meds daily while still having 5-20 seizures a day.  I went to a hospital in London, Ontairo that has an  Epilepsy Unit and my surgery became part of their study.  Obviously I have some things to learn because there are terms out there now that I don't know of.  I can only pray my being part of the surgery research will have helped to improve.  God bless you.  If you want to chat, let me know.

Your story reads like mine.  I'm 35 and had my first GM at 1.  I had a partial right temp lobectomy in 2001 and then a complete RTL in 2002.  I'm still not controlled by any means but going from about 5 a day to 2 - 5  a week is to me some level of success.

I wasn't ever well versed when it came to E until I had my surgery.  Now I feel like I know way more than I'd ever imagined.

Best of luck on your sz's,

Christine

Hi Christine.  I am glad your seizrues are at least partially under control.  It is a horrible feeling when you have seizures.  I had every type of seizure there was so my type of epilepsy was Complex Partial/Temporal Lobe Epilepsy.  I am sorry your seizures are not gone completely, but like you said, at least it is an improvement and with improvement you can do a little more than you did before.  I pray you stay well and even find complete healing somewhere.  God bless.
