For people who still have their menstrual cycles.. i was wondering... once your FMS started to flare up or once it started to come out full blown.. did you notice any changes in your monthly menstrual cycles??

mine have been different in the past few months and i don't know why.. and it's freaking me out most of the time...

OMG-this is so bizarre that you started this thread.  I am usually like clockwork (I'm not on any birth control), and for the past few months I've been having spotting between periods, and I started over a week early this month.  I have heard this happening to some of my lupus friends, but I don't know about this happening with fibro.  Or, maybe we have all gotten so close, we've all started to get our periods at the same time. tongue    BTW-for almost a year, my cramps have been horrible.  I had a pelvic ultrasound last year and everything was fine.  So, my crazy mind can't relate it to anything besides the fibro. sad

FINALLY dxd on 06/13/08
Vicodin, Neurontin, Ibuprofen for pain-which doesn't help, BTW
Zoloft & methadone (NOT for pain) for sanity-which doesn't help, BTW
Klonopin for anxiety (Guess what?  Doesn't help!)

Seriously? I am so relieved to read these posts. I am on birth control pills and should only be bleeding during the placebo week but this month, during the worst of the flair, I started spotting and then break through bleeding and then full blown bleeding for two weeks!!? I hope it's related to fibro because I really can't handle a gynocologist appt. right now.

I had two periods in July, fun, fun, fun...

I have been about every three weeks for a while. I am going through perimenopause I think. Since fibro, my periods have been a lot longer and heavier. Also more cramping, but honestly I don't know if it is fibro or just my age. So I am probably not much help.

Best wishes for a wonderful day.

hugs, Karen...

mine are still on time. but they've changed. i get spotting days in advance with weird discomfort and cramps.. but not really cramps. the spotting comes and goes. it lasts about 3 days i'd say.. then it's super heavy for like 1-2 days and that's it.

i NEVER used to get spotting before my periods. and if i did.. it was like that same morning or immediately before it started. not anything like this.

i dunno if it's a cause for concern.. or due to the fibro...

Before I was diagnosed with fibro I was put on prozac for the monthly problems mentioned.  It was given a different name and was supposed to help with pms, which it did.  I can't remember what the doctor called it, I can't remember 5 minutes ago and this was 3 years ago, but the doctor told me it was prozac  and taken in low doses the two weeks prior to your period.  It did help. I had some problems still but things were pretty regular again, for awhile.  The doctor then put me on a daily dose of prozac, still low 10mg I think.  Again I had relief but it was temporary.  Once I was diagnosed with fibro and my medications were increased my cycle went back to normal.  It has been three years and my period are pretty regular but the dose of prozac keeps going up.  SaraFem, I think that was what it was called, wow I can't believe I came up with that.  I think my point was, yes I think Fibro has a lot to do with our monthly problems but if you are concerned always go with your gut and have it checked out.  I must add that I had horrible pelvic pain, so bad it doubled me over.  I had a lot of tests run and there was nothing wrong with me.   Fibro gets us again.
