I had surgery on 8-26 for a hiatal hernia & stomach Rotation.
I never had a lot of acid refulx-but would get choked alot.  I guess I have done very well
since surgery, but the 2 weeks of liquids was bad.  now I am on mushy foods.  Sometimes
I have pain in my shoulders after eating, was told this should go away.
Does anyone know how long you have to stay on mushy foods?  What is ahead for me
Thank you

Hi, Granny!  You would get better info about this in the GERD - Heartburn forum here on HealingWell.  The forum quick jump is in the pale blue bar at the top of the posts.  It's on the right hand side.  They should be able to answer your questions.  They have a good group of people there, too.

I had that surgery several years ago. I have to say that is probably one of the best surgery's I ever had. I did have alot of reflux problems though. I don't remember the diet afterwards but I do remember I had a speedy recovery! I have no regrets what so ever!!! I am sorry I can't answer your question specificly.

I have taken off my meds cause there are so many of them but if you want to know just ask!
God delivered me from my severe depression!!!

Hi grannyhud and welcome. I had the surgery years ago after almost chocking to death a few times and getting pneumonia a few times from asperating. The only problem is I can not vomit which poses a problem at times. It took quite a while before I could get solid foods down without any pain but I can't tell you now how long it was. It does get better though.
luv and hugs
