Greetings all I thought I was already a member but guess not lol .
I'm Ravensong I'm 44 (going to be 45 next month ) and I have among other health issues fibromyalgia as the result of a motorcyle wreck I was in when I was 17 . My borther and I were stopped at a stop sign , a drink driver rear ended us doing 40+ miles an hour!! mad My brother and i both walked away from the wreck thank all the god's . However I soon began to have trouble picking up my week old daughter , over the years I had 2 more great kids . The pains just got worse and worse and I took a couple of very serious falls . My husband was killed in 1989 less than a year after my mom had lost her battle with cancer . My late husbands family for years told me my pain was due to the following : being lazy , fat, a bad mother , just trying to get attention , it was all in my head again I was just being the drama queen . I was finally diagnosed in 1995 . Of course nobody came foreword and offered to help nor did anyone say " gee I'm sorry I was wrong"
Now my three kids are all grown up and my daughters have kids .
Along with fibro only 36% of my heart works and I've got arthritis which has destroyed my knees . I'm not to be doing much according to my heart doc but sitting on the couch reading a very boreing book , no excitement for me turn Well I do read a lot but I also try to get up and out as much as I can which isn't that much but I have the internet and friends here ... I'm the one who will listen to you should you need it . smurf
BE BLESSED Ravensong

Hi Ravensong,

Welcome to the HealingWell fibromyalgia forum. I am sure that you will be happy that you joined up.

It sounds like you have been through a lot in your past. But try to live in the moment. Fibromyalgia kind of makes it that way. For me anyway. I can't worry about future things because I don't know how I will be feeling when I get up each morning. And the past is just that, the past.

I hope that you are having a wonderful day. We have a lot of interesting and knowledgeable threads that you can read. One is fibro101. It carries a lot of information on it.

keep posting,

Hugs, Karen

Hi, Ravensong, and welcome to the fourm!  You really have had a lot of problems, haven't you?  I'm glad you came here because we really do care and want to help you as much as we can.  We have some fun on this forum too.  So, join in!
In the Fibro 101 thread that Karen mentioned, is a link to great stretching exercises.  These can be done sitting down so this is definitely something you can do.  If you can walk around, do that as much as possible, too.  The more you sit, the worse the pain is with fibro.
Try hot showers and moist heat.  They really feel good, too.  I hope that the pain from fibro will respond to these.  You have such a difficult problem because of your heart.
I'm so glad that you joined us, though.  We are here to help you and answer any questions you may have.  Have a good evening and I hope to hear more from you soon.

Hi Ravensong,

And welcome to Healing Well. This is one fantastic family here in this fibro board and a lot of people who care. Thanks for posting and keep posting.

I too have had fibro since I was 28 which is 28 years ago and I also have some problems with my heart, so it makes getting around a real struggle, but I take care of my granddaughter every day who is 4 and a half years old and that keeps me moving a little every day.

I hope to get to know you more and more now that you have joined.

Gentle Hugs,

Believe in yourself.  Be kind to fellow humans and animals.  Take time to smell the flowers and the coffee.
And by all means, when you are down, ask me for help.  I will be there.

Welcome to the group, Raven.  This is a great group and everyone here is friendly and helpful.   Don't you hate it when people think you are making up your pain?!   When my doc did that to me, I thought maybe he was right.  It was nice to finally have a reason for the pain and know I wasn't loopy.  (loopy about the pain anyway!)  turn Sue

Hi Raven and welcome to our family. I think many of us have had family members dx us or label us. I'm sure I still have some non believers in my family but that is their problem.

Sounds like you have had a tough life. Read and ask questions, we are here for you.

luv and hugs
