I have been having terrible itching all over my body, including my scalp.
I normally have very very dry skin and treat it daily with moistureizers,
but I cant seem to get rid of this itching.   Its driving me NUTS!!!  I thought I read some place that itchy skin was also a symptom of Fibro. Any thoughts or anyone suffer with this also?
Thanks so much

Itching can be a symptom of Fibro. I have suffered most of my life w/ skin allergies. As a baby my mother had to use certain soaps for me and my clothes. I had prob w/ starch in my school uniforms, that was ALL over my body, had to apply the med one dot at a time all over head to toes. As a teen I started w/ dermatitis, hands, arms, face. about 12 yrs. ago I worked in a 'closed office' everyone but me smoked and no ventilation. My skin was going nuts, I would scratch till I bled. I also find dairy food causes me to itch, I haven't had milk in about 15 yrs. That caused a lot of prob w/ skin and bowels. I can only use certain soaps and shampoos and detergent/softener or I will still itch. Did you use anything new recently? Soaps or foods? I hope it stops soon, I know how that can drive you crazy. Good luck.

God bless.  Alice.

I have crazy itchy skin sometimes, too, like last nite, grrr. It could just be the fibro, but I have also recently learned that itchy skin can be a symptom of thyroid issues, I forget if it's hypo- hyper- or both. I also just found out that my thyroid is not functioning as it should be and I may have sluggish adrenals. Have you had these things checked? Most doctors don't do the proper testing as they are stuck in the old ways of thinking and will tell you you're normal. The ranges on the common tests are just way too wide. I'm not sure if I can post other websites on here, (no time at the moment to refresh my memory on the rules, hehe), but I can direct you to a wonderful website with lots of great information on this if you think it is something you want to have checked. Feel free to e-mail me at
Hope it's just a fleeting symptom and you're feeling better soon!

I've had itchy skin and some scalp itching.  You could have a form of dermatitis.  That's what my dermatologist told me.  I use Curel lotion and it has helped me a lot.

j have had contact dermatitis most of my life. When my first son was born I convinced the doc to let me out of hospital early because the sanitizing agent used for linens was causing me to break out in little red itchy bumps. For a while i had to use only certain detergents, certain soaps, etc. Also, I have had medication reactions that caused me to itch all over. Finally, I also developed sun poisoning, more than ten or fifteen minutes in direct sun and I broke out in those little red bumps that were horribly itchy but hurt a lot if I scratched. I used calamine with lidocaine to fix the problem. Also I use a good quality moisturizer immediately after a bath or shower before I'm completely dry. The cream locks in the moisture. Good luck.
