I'm still searching for the cause of my aches and pains.  Suddenly at 45 my energy is depleted and my neck, arches in my feet, wrists and fingers ache.  I have erthyromyalgia where my hands and feet get bright red from blood rushing to them.  I tested positive for lyme and just got off months of antibiotics.  Another doc said I had fibro.  I have some autoimmune stuff going on as well-Anti DNA, Antibodies to thyroid, I'm at a loss.  I keep waiting for the big cure but am becoming discouraged.  Does this sound like fibro?  I get so discouraged . . .

Hi Fibro Friend,
Unfortunately, those symptoms mimick a lot of diseases.  Lyme Disease, Lupus, Thyroid disorders, Fibromyalgia, just to name a few. It sounds like you have a lot going on.  Try not to get too discouraged.  The diagnosis process can take a while, and your doctors need time to sort it all out and figure out what you do and don't have.  It can take time. Keeping track of all your symptoms in a journal or diary will help you to remember things at your appointments.  Take pictures of any rashes you get too.

Hi Fibro Friend,

I would like to welcome you to the fibromyalgia forum. There is a lot of information here that you could learn from. And you will also learn that you are not alone.

There is a thread called 'fibro101'. If you get a chance read that. There is a world of information on it. Everything from symptoms to muscle stretching. Different supplements, relaxation methods, so very much to read.

I am happy that you joined us. We are like one big family and the forum is a lot of fun.

Keep posting,

Hugs, Karen

Welcome to the fibro family.  It sounds like you are going through a hard time getting your dxs straight, while still trying to find out what else is wrong with you.  LOL-welcome to my world! wink    Seriously, besides having fibro, I've been in lupus-limbo for over a year, and I may or may not have CFS or some other type of auto-immune disorder. eyes    I know (as a lot of us do), how frustrated you must be feeling. mad
I'm no doctor, but there's a possibility that it could be fibro.  All these auto immune disorders and diseases are so confusing, and they tend to mimic one another.  Like you, I am always waiting for the big cure.  Unfortunately, fibro is chronic.  However, I'm still waiting for the big treatment that would help me feel better. cry
Anyway, you'll find a lot of great info here, and you just might find some really great friends. :-)
FINALLY dxd with fibro on 06/13/08
Vicodin, Neurontin, Ibuprofen for pain-which doesn't help, BTW
Zoloft & methadone (NOT for pain) for sanity-which doesn't help, BTW
Klonopin for anxiety (Guess what?  Doesn't help!)

Thank you all for your words of support and encouragement. I will read Fibro 101 and learn more information. They said my ANA was fine and sed rate so I don't have lupus but I do have a lot of auto immune stuff going on in my body as well. I've tried massage, healing touch, reiki, accupuncture. Everything helps a little. I teach, take care of a 4 year old and am always running. I'm finding I need to slow down or it's like I run out of gas and crash. Thanks again for your encouragement. It's good to have others out there to support one another!!

Hi, New Fibro Friend, and welcome!  You have gotten some good advice already but I wanted to welcome you to our forum.  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.  That's what we're here for.  We have some good ideas on how to help control the pain and fatigue and help you live a full and enjoyable life with fibro.
In the fibro 101 thread..the second thread on the forum...there is a link all about malic acid and magnesium supplements.  I started taking these last year and they have really helped me with pain and fatigue.  They don't work for everyone, though.  Read all about them and see what you think.  Maybe they could help you some.
Meanwhile, I'm so glad you found us and joined in!  I hope to hear more from you soon.

Hi New Fibro Friend and welcome. It does get frustrating waiting for a dx. I guess I was lucky cause I didn't know anything about fibro before I was dxd. I only knew something was wrong with me and we kept testing to find out what. It took an all out, been beaten all over with a baseball bat, flare to get a dx. I guess in a way it was a good thing that I had the flare.
I hope you get answers soon.
luv and hugs
