Well, I found this site by mistake, but I forgot what I was looking for when I found it! tongue    Sounds like I belong, doesn't it?!  I am 58 (ugh!) and have been on SS Disability since 2000.  I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, Generalized Anxiety Disease, and Advanced Degenerative Disk Disease.  One of my 'specialties' is health anxiety... shocked times...when everything you own hurts!
I am currently having a health anxiety crisis.  My SIL was diagnosed 6 weeks ago with a glioblastoma (stage IV cancer brain tumor).  She is only 37 years old.  She went to Duke University and had it operated on by the same surgeon that performed Ted Kennedy's brain surgery.  She is going to start chemo, radiation and a clinical trial (with Avastin) by next week.
When I started reading some of the posts yesterday, I was laughing hysterically...something I don't do too often these days.  I thought to myself that I just HAVE to stick around here.  When I think about 'Vestibula's' story about kicking the cement ball... smilewinkgrin I laugh all over again!  I look forward to 'meeting' everyone'.  Jeanne

hi jeanne!

welcome to the family :) unfortunately, it's not for great reasons, but i am very glad you found us. this is a great place to find information, people who really understand what you're going through, and, like you said, a great laugh or two!

i am so so very sorry to hear about your sister in law. that is just tragic-to be so young and having to go through something like that! it sounds like she is in very good hands, though, dr. wise. i will pray that she makes a full recovery quickly.

i get anxious about health related things, too. especially when i start experiencing new symptoms. i panic and think-omg! do i have {insert terrible disease here}??!! then after a day or two i realize it's just the fibro...

welcome again!

Hi, Jeanne, and welcome!  Yes, we do have an unusual pain and fatigue forum here!  yeah    We give a lot of help to one another and throw in some humor to boot.  Yes, Vestabula is one of our stand-up comics on the forum.  I know I'm laughing daily with some of her stories!
Be sure to check out the Fibro 101 thread...the second thread on the forum.  There are links to good info about fibromyalgia including and list of symptoms, some good stretching exercises, and also a link about malic acid/magnesium supplements.  I started these last December and they have really helped with the pain and fatigue.  They don't work for everyone though.  Anyway, check out that link and see what you think!
Don't hesitate to ask questions but be sure to write them down before you get on the forum!  turn    We would love to help you answer them.  We have great people here with wonderful ideas to help you live a full and enjoyable life with fibro.  We have people from about 15 years old to ~muffled speech~ years of age!  I'm 61 right now.  I think the oldest person on the forum is Marlee.  devil    So jump in anytime!  Hope to hear more from you soon.

Hi Jeanne and welcome to the family. Don't mind Sherrine she has a few mental issues that is not fibro related. devil I'm also 58 we have several our age on here. I wish the best for your SIL. There are a few of us that have relatives battling cancer. I have a 56 yr old cousin fighting for her life.
We do try to help each other with everything in our lives cause it does have such an impact on fibro. Stress + fibro =  pain. Even good stress has an affect on me. I also have anxiety which doesn't help any, can't say I have health anxiety, mine is more about what life throws at me and it's always throwing something.
We have to find something to laugh about and Donna has been keeping us busy laughing. We laugh and we cry together on here, that's why we are family.
I'm glad you found us.
luv and hugs

Hi Jeanne, I just found this forum too.  I read for awhile & just had to finally join in.  What a great group.  Having Fibro can be lonely.  I am 57.  Would you believe I forget all the time how old I am.  So then, just like now, I have to subtract 1951 from whatever year it is.  I was 29 for 2 years, really!!!!  Someone had to tell me when thought I was turning 30 that "No, your 29 this year, Denise."  & I argued with her until I stopped & figured it out.  I had been 29 the whole year before.  Do I ever get to be 28?  I will just be 28 some year & enjoy it or I will just tack it on the backend of my life like a skipped payment on a mortgage.  I can dream.  Anyway, as you can see I do get sidetracked often.  Welcome to this site & I hope to see you around here.  I am sorry about your SIL, I hope she will be alright.
Hugs, Denise

I have:  Fibromyalgia, CFS, Holt-Oram Syndrome, nasal allergies, depression

Married to a wonderful supportive husband & between us we have 4 children & 7 grandchildren.
