I currently have a pain specialist here in town. This is the city that I grew up in so I know a fair amount of who does what in this town. I'm getting ready to move from Oregon here to SC in about 6-8 weeks. My PM doc doesn't know anyone in the area that I'm going to be moving to, and has no suggestions for "who".

If anyone has suggestions for a PM doc around either around Columbia (preferred) or Charleston, SC I would be very happy to hear them. I'm going to be doing some research through what I can find online, but suggestions would also be more than welcomed.

Did you have a good pain specialist in Oregon. I live in Seattle and they are not helping much here.

Sorry to see you leaving the NW. I guess you will fry in the sun in NC your first year. lol

No more rust.

Wow, the fog kicked in. I've had so much to do that I completely forgot that I had posted a request to see if anyone had any referrals. hahaha

You're totally right....I'll probably fry there this summer. I'm so not used to a sun climate anymore. But I'm hoping that it will be good since I tend to hurt less in the warmer weather.

Yes, I have a good doc here, and I really hate to lose him. But the move is a necessity and I just can't seem to convince him that he needs to move his practice too. heh. It took me quite a while to find him. I've been through 3 pain docs before him. He actually came on the recommendation from a co-worker. He knows that I like to know as much as I can about possible treatments and that I had an interest in medicine even before I had any serious ailments. So he talks to me almost at the same level as he would a colleague, and if there's something that I don't understand, then I stop him to ask questions.

These next few weeks are going to be all about being on the phone to talk to as many nurses and receptionists down there as I can. I don't want to wait till I get there before I start asking questions. I figure worst case scenario, I'm going to be about an hour and a half away from the state university hospital so if need be, I will go seek them out.

I'm sorry I can't help you find a doc, but I did want to welcome you to SC.  As you know, I just moved back here a little over 3 months ago, and things have been hard.  But, I have my own place now, so I hope things will get better.  I'm in the Upstate, and it sounds like you'll be somewhere between Columbia & Charleston.
I've been away from the south for 8 years (and away from SC for 14 years), and the weather is murder on my pain. skull   I lived in sunny, dry, SoCal, and these 13 degree temps make me scream in pain (no, I mean it, I scream-and no one hears me). cry   I'm sure the summers will be horrible.  I've been so spoiled without any humidity.
Anyway, I just wanted to welcome you to the Palmetto State (that's SC, BTW). smilewinkgrin

Neurontin, Ibuprofen for pain-which doesn't help
Zoloft & methadone (NOT for pain) for sanity-which doesn't help, BTW
Klonopin for anxiety (Guess what?  Doesn't help!)
Aciphex for reflux
