Went to the DR today and she gave me a script for Cymbalta. Hopefully that will help. Also the foot pain that I have been having is more than fibro The padding area near your toes where we generally step on all the time. that padding is gone.. when I stand or taking a step I am walking directly on the bone. Ouch.......She recommended I get some inserts for my shoes and get to a podiatrist.
So ok I should be happy that something is finally not being blamed on fibro. but in this case I wish it was only fibro..So any way I go to walmart to get my scripts filled she gave me one for ibuproffin as well They tell me it is going to be a 2 hour wait.. I wait I go do my other shopping go to subway for lunch. Go back to get my meds to find opu tI need pre approval for my perscription of cymbalta. So I purchas 3 pills to hold me 3 days to get the approval it was $10.00 a pill yes I spent 30.00 on 3 pills.. At this point I just want to get started on something new that might help.. Fibro has been a very expensive experience. The pharmacy asked me if I was depressed or in pain as I am limping to her counter..I told her it was for pain and she said that she has gotten alot of approvals for people in pain and less for the depressed... why should it matter if a person has something available to them that will make them feel better why should insurance companies  be allowed to turn you down.

I know, our medical system is failing us.

I am going to pay for a doctor outside of my insurance company in order to get better care.

I hope you get approved soon. If not? Fight it.

Hey there LeeAnn,

Why do they need approval.. it's all about the $$$ and because these meds are reasonably new and depending on your reason for taking them.

Yes, fibro is expensive!!  Sad thing is that some of us can't work because of this syndrome and can't afford the meds.  The other sad thing is that SSDI doesn't always consider fibro to be a reasonable disability.  If you do get SSDI it take another year to get Medicare.  So far my doc has me on all meds that are generic.. so the price isn't a big problem, I hope it stays that way.

Hey LeeAnn,

Wow-that really stinks! What a mess our health care system is! It seems to me it's become only about making somebody (usually the drug and insurance companies) tons of money and to heck with everyone else! Grrr!!

I hope they get this straightened out for you ASAP. When you are approved, will you be reimbursed for the $30 you've already spent?
