My right leg from my hip to my foot is soooo painful! It feels as though someone has grabbed/pulled my muscles and set them on fire!

It is painful to sit straight up(using the potty is torture) and my shin feels like it got slammed with a baseball bat. I am not able to put all my weight on my leg either. The pain can get increasingly worse by standing to long(getting a drink or trying to make a sandwich or even brushing my teeth is bringing me to tears) or my shin or my knee are going to burn up and explode. I have been having massive muscle twitches up and down my leg. cry shakehead cry I have pushed through a lot of painful times for work, but I just can't with this.

On wednesday last week I was at work, doing my usual and my hip/leg started to feel different than the normal types of aches and pains that I get and it just got increasingly worse as the day went on. By the time I got into bed that night I was in tears. I already had an appt. to see my internist on friday a.m. so I stayed home thursday to rest. On friday a.m. I was just as bad as wednesday. The doc sent me to due x-rays b/4 I went home and OMG, talk about painful. He told me he thought it was a pinched nerve. (Mind you, my back doesn't hurt at all.) He told me to see him in a week and he was to give me a letter for work. Hmmm, never gotten one of those b/4. He put on the letter that I am to be off work for this whole week, doctors orders. sad Well I definitely don't feel up for work at all. I can barely walk to the kitchen and the bathroom without my cane. Like I said b/4, sitting straight up is painful.

I wish I had a laptop computer right now, this sitting at my desk is too hard. I just wanted to share and see if any one else can relate with this and losing so much time at work in one shot. I will be using up the rest of my sick and vacation time if I stay home all week. Its freakin' me out.

Well I got to get back to my recliner, the best position I can get into with the least amount of pain.
Miss you all, wish I could read all of the threads....its been days.

P.S. I am taking some pain meds, but the pain is still powering through. I probably could take more but I don't like being totally out of it. shocked

Oh Binki.  All I can say is that I have had the same pain for almost two months.  Only mine starts in the middle of my butt muscle, goes into my hip and down my leg.  The sensation is 'burning and gnawing' pain.  My thigh aches as does my knee and shin.  It's only on the right side. wakes me up at night and is worse when I sit or lay down.  I figured it was some kind of sciatica but I don't know.  Another Fibro Thrill.

I have had two bad falls since easter...once off my son's pool deck and another on  a wet soapy floor in a public restroom.  Let's just say that it didn't help this hip-thing.  One suggestion I have is try to balance your weight evenly, if at all possible with your cane...I have been gimping so badly my left side is taking all the weight and is beginning to get sore.

I hope you get to the bottom of it.  I don't have health insurance so I haven't gone to the Rhuemy.  MRI's cost a fortune and I'm sure that's what he'll want me to do.

feel better...bed buddie, rest, know the drill!

Lori and Donna, this could be a pinched nerve.  Have either of you tried ice...maybe in the hip area?  I have these gel-filled bags that I keep in the freezer that will bend to your form.  I got mine from a chiropractor but I think they sell these in the drug stores now.  If it is a pinched nerve, this might help with inflammation.  I'm just guessing here but it might be worth a try.  I hope BOTH of you are feeling better soon!

Aww, Lori I'm so sorry your in so much pain.
I agree it could be a pinched nerve. I sure hope not but if it is there's things that can be done to help.
I know how scary it is to miss a lot of work because of health issues.

I am also having severe leg pain today, I cant get comfortable no matter what I do. It's my lower back tht cuses the pain even though my back isnt hurting right now, but that is where the nerve is coming from. My legs ache and I get that pins and needle feeling in my left leg like when your legs fll asleep but mine is nonstop. I just took some ibprofen and I know that it will help alot but it takes forever to work. I got a laptop 4 months ago and I absoutly love it, now I have no reason to move off of the couch lol. I got mine from QVC cause you can do payments with them without doing a credit, you just have to have a debit card with money on it, cause otherwise I coudnt afford one and I dont do credit card period, I avoid credit like the plague. I'm thinking of taking a bath when my kids go to bed, but the hardness of the tub hurts, I've always told myself that I was gonna see if anyone makes a full-body bacteria-free bathtub pillow, preferably gel filled, and if their isnt one that exists already, then I'm gonna invent one lol, and all of you get a free one lol.

I'm so sorry Lori.  I've had two herniated discs causing sciatic nerve pain down my leg, and it can be excruciating.  If it is a disc, sometimes anti-inflammatories like a prednisone dose pack or ibuprofen can help.  If it is caused by a muscle spasming and pressing on a nerve, again an anti-inflammatory or a muscle relaxant might help.  I'm certainly not a doctor, but those things helped me.
I hope you feel better soon.  Try to take it easy if you can.

Wow ladies, I am so sorry for all the pain and suffering.  Sometimes it is more than we think we can bare, yet somehow we pull through it.  Wow are we amazing or what??!  You came to the right place for support, huh?  I hope both of you feel better soon.

Thinking of you.  Jules

Hi Lori,

Somehow I missed this thread...I am so sorry you're feeling so rotten. I also have to wonder if you have a pinched nerve. I've dealt with those in the past myself, and wowie do they hurt!!!!!! I don't have any advice (when it's happened to me, I've always just slapped on a heating pad and lived with it as best as I could) but I did want to let you know I'm thinking of you and hoping you're feeling better.
