I used to have a lot of problems with my hands.  I was told I had carpal tunnel and that I should have surgery.  I didn't go that route and just babied them as much as possible.  They started getting better and now they are 100% better.  My fingers will hurt occasionally and lock, too, but it sure beats what they were like a few years ago.
I have found that I get a really bad symptom and, if I wait long enough, it goes away and something else crops up.  That's how fibro has been for me.  But, I always have the back, shoulder and neck pain.

Try ice packs on your hands and move them around. I try them for R.A. in my hands and it helps a lot.

Ouch! My hands hurt at some level every day. The pain is usually around my knuckles. I have not had your experience. I am glad that you did not break any bones!

Take Care,

My hands are by far the worst thing about my FM. I cannot trust my grip on things now. I drop things all the time. My family is finally starting to believe me now that they see me lose control of holding something, or when they watch me have to pick somethingup with two hands.

Mrs Cavbar, do your hands hurt, spasm, or feel uncomfortable in different ways? It is so curious to me how my hands are different every day; like now my fingertips are burning and numb, and that has never happened before. Like I touched a hot stove. I hope yours don't feel like that!

Sorry you're hurtin' Mrs C. Hope your hand gets better soon!!

I don't trust my hands very much either. I'm almost afriad to pick anything up on really bad days because its only going to fall out of my hands and hit the floor then I have to bend over and hurt my back to pick it up.. Fibro SUCKS!!

Feel better soon!!
