Just wanted to share this with everyone. I had a little bit of an awakening the end of last week when I went to get my haircut.
I had an e-mail sent to me awhile ago re: having patience with our fellow human beings- whether it is out driving, in a store, just being amongst people and why they might be having a "bad" day.
For starters, the stylist hardly greeted me, she had no expression on her face and she did not talk. My first thoughts were; I won't be giving her much of a tip, she shouldn't be in this line of work, and I am never coming back to her. I started light conversation with her and come to find out she has "fibro" and was having an exceptionally bad pain day! She is also going to college in the eves and has two kids. I would be having a bad day too! So, not only did I get a great haircut but I learned that there is probably a good reason people can behave the way they do some days. idea

Wow, what a wonderful story, Jill!

One thing Fibro has definitely taught me is that we just never know what's going on with people. No one would know to look at me what I go through every day, so how am I to know what they are going through? Your experience is a reminder of that-thank you so much for sharing it.

I always try to give people the benefit of a doubt when they are like that. Because I have had so many bad days, and I dont' talk much when I am not feeling good.

I am glad that you had that conversation with her. That is a good thing. You learned that she has fibro, now you have something in common with her, you could probably teach her a few coping skills.

I am glad that you got to talk with her, I bet that you tipped her rather well after finding out. lol...

And I bet you had a nice conversation. Thanks for the post, we do have to stop and think some times when people aren't friendly, they could have some health issue going on.

Have a great day, and I hope that you got a good hair do.

Hugs, Karen

There is a famous quote (I can't remember who said it) that goes something like, "Be kind to everyone because everyone has a hard life."  I try to put that one into practice, but I'm sure I screw it up more often than not.
I know I'm very cranky when I'm in a lot of pain, but being human, I still find myself judging others.  Thanks for the reminder.  :-)

Thanks for bringing this up Jill. It is so very true that we should not judge others cause we don't know what their stories are.

This is a wonderful post, Gamjill.  We do need to be mindful that everyone has problems.  I'm sure you will be able to help her too!  Thanks for posting this.
