I've mentioned here a couple of times that my throat has been sore for about a week now. I had chalked it up to fibro or maybe chronic fatigue because I haven't had a fever or any other symptoms. Today, though, I decided enough is enough and went to my local walk in clinic (my regular Dr. wasn't going to be able to see me for ages) Anyway...they did a swab and it turns out I have strep throat! Boy, did I feel kind of dumb. Here I was, thinking "no way do I have strep" since I haven't had a fever, but the Dr. said although fevers are common with strep, they aren't always present. In fact, some people can have strep throat without any symptoms at all! shocked (scary thought!) I have been feeling run down, but Hello! I have fibro! Feeling run down isn't an odd occurrence for me, haha. Anyway-I'm super glad I went to the Dr. and had this checked out and got an antibiotic. Just goes to show that sometimes things DO go wrong in our bodies that have nothing to do with fibro!

I am sorry to hear that you have strep. I hope that the antibiotics help you to feel better soon.

Yes, we also have other things wrong like normal (haha) people do. I have just started a job and have tons of aches and pains. Though I know that it is the fibro, being on my feet all day contributes to a lot of it.

I really hope that you are feeling better.

Hugs, Karen

Hey, thank you Karen :-) I'm hoping I feel better soon, too! Like I said, though, my only symptoms have been a moderate sore throat and exhaustion. The sore throat's not so bad that I can't eat and the exhaustion I'm totally used to, so all things considered I don't feel that bad. I will definitely be increasing the fluids and taking it easy, though!

Congrats on your job! All day on your feet??!! Wow-I don't know how you do it! I have had lots of jobs like that, and they were hard on me and I didn't even have fibro yet! (Well, that I know of anyway..sometimes I think I've had it for most of my life) I'll be sending you good energetic thoughts!! :-)

Danielle, I'm glad you found out what was going on.  Strep can be tricky and cause a lot of problems.  When my daughter was a toddler she ran a high fever and had a stiff neck but her throat looked fine.  They ran about every test they could find and she was sooo sick.  She was in the hospital for a week and was going to be transferred to a children's hospital affiliated with the Cleveland Clinic.  My doctor decided to run a throat culture, even though her throat looked fine and she didn't have a sore throat.  Sure enough, it was strep!  She had to have tests run to make sure it hadn't caused other problems, and it hadn't.  Now, if she gets a fever and a stiff neck, she heads to her doctor!

That's sure the truth. I normally don't get colds. But not too long ago, I had a horrible cold. At first I thought it was just allergies and my fibro. But, no, it was a cold. It made my fatigue sooo much worse. Anyways. I am glad that you are on an antibiotic now. That way, you will  have one less thing dragging you down. Hope you feel better soon.

Boy Danielle,

Who would have thought it was strep? I am glad you have antibiotics now. It is hard enohg having fibro. Anything that will help you feel better is worth it.

Get well, soon.

Don't feel dumb Danielle. I get sore throats a lot too and always chalk it up to the sjogren's and I do wonder if I have CFS. Our bodies are so weird we don't think about common things that normal people get.
I hope your better soon.

Hey Danielle,
Glad you found out what your problem was.  I hope you are feeling better now.
But, you know when you suffer with Fibro.  You have so many horrible symptoms that it's hard to figure out if it's another illness or just Fibro.  It's just crazy!

Hope your feeling a little better Danielle!

I would not feel dumb- fibro is so goofy, and like the others said, it's a good reminder that not everything is fibro. Most of it is, but not this time!
