hey everyone!
my dr has prescribed me elavil to take since cymbalta and lyrica did no good! supposedly its gonna help me sleep a whole lot better. my concern is that although lyrica didnt give me any notable side effects, but cymbalta gave me "serotonin syndrome" and landed me in an ER a few months ago. my dr says its diff and i will be fine, but the pharmacist says with any serotonin booster meds there is a risk. i'm nervous and dont know what to do... i desperately need something to work because i am sinking fast. i normally am able to control it through diet, vitamins, and self awareness but i've recently moved and started a new job. i feel like my body lost control and i had to reach out to get help this time... it was out of my control in the worst way. the pharmacist also mentioned a drug interaction with serotonin boosters and mucinex (anything with dm after it)... i have never heard that. if i remember correctly i took some mucinex the same time as i started the cymbalta and had to go play at the ER. (playing at the ER sounds much more pleasant... and i tend to "play" a lot). of course, as we all know our brains can't really be trusted ;)

anyways pour your wisdom on me!!

Best I can do is give you the benefit of my experience. Muscinex, would be pseudoephedrine, like the so caled 'muscle relaxer, i received a couple months back from, ironically, the ER. I was in for chest pain. Well, it turned out the chest pain was costochondritis, common, but the ephedrine compound nearly killed me. I am on two serotonin boosters, one being elavil. You should be titrated up from a low dose, it will help you sleep, but avoid OTC cold and decongestant medicines.
