My ex mother in law (who prefers me over her son's new wife <shrug>) told me about a friend of a friend using a horse liniment to ease fibro pain. I went to the Tractor Supply store today and bought one. It's called Absorbine gel. I learned online that the name brand Absorbine Jr. is the human version of this equine liniment. It has a spearmint scent so I don't smell like I've bathed in Ben-Gay (I just smell like a stick of gum). The initial heat from application is pretty intense, but I'm noticing, after two applications, that it does seem to be easing some of the muscle pain. It penetrates deep into the muscles. I also put it on my shoulder with the torn rotator cuff and the joints that hurt. I haven't used it long, but so far, I like it. (Fingers crossed that this will ease the pain of the flare.) I decided to go with what is essentially Absorbine Sr. because it's stronger than the one meant for people.

I hope you will be very careful with that, I imagine you are going to get some replies about your choice of medicine. I am glad that you are having some pain relief, just be careful with animal meds. There are lots of meds out there that have been altered for either humans or large animals. This could be dangerous, there could be additives or big differences in a med for animals vs. people, esp. large animals, that we can't tolerate. Be safest!

My mother picked up a bottle of this, a product called " nu hemp " I believe. I have a terribly bad back and used it on that, my mom has arthritis in her hands and she has been using it for that. The stuff was about 13 bucks for a 750 ml bottle. The same kind of deal with this that there really was no smell to this and it did feel like it got deep into my muscles.

Has anybody used a similar product for a while and had noticeable relief of symptoms and or side effects ?

Take Care
