My 14 year old daughter was recenty diagnosed & is on 60 mg Cymbalta 1 X daily.  I was wondering if anyone knows the best time to take it.  I've heard different things from different doctors.  The pills say they may cause sleepyness, but one doc said they tend to excite people.  Her sleep habits are messed up anyway & I want her to take it at the best time for her.

My doc told me to experiment with it and that it was my preference. I took it in the morning for a few times and was a zombie at work until noon or so. I take it at night now along with my other meds (gabapentin and flexeril) and that works best for me.

When I was on it, I found that I did better taking it in the morning. I did not get drowsy from it at all. It ended up not being a good drug for me, as it didn't help my depression, so I went back on prozac. It didn't help my fibro much either - but it's different for everyone. Some here, find it works very well for them. Hope your daughter does well on it.

I take Cymbalta in the morning. It does not make me drowsy, I think it is even meant to give you energy.....
I tried to quit Cymbalta because it does not seem to gie me any benefit and there are definately side effects. It is a very bad drug to try and withdraw from. The withdrawal sickness is bad and can last several weeks. I would look into it before letting your daughter stay on it. The side effects include weight gain...most people claim about 40 pounds.....mine was 20, and some sexual libido dropoff....
I started taking it again when I found out how long my withdrawals would last, I could not let it affect my job for that long. I will have to wait until I can take vacation to try again. I truly wish I had not started taking it....

I take my Cymbalta in the morning. I started out taking it in the evening, then went to taking 60mg morning and evening. When Lyrica was added to the mix, I dropped the evening dose and it seems to work well. I have not had any of the drowsiness or weight gain, just some libido effects.

I take 60 mg in the morning and I think it actually gives me more energy. I still have pain, but it's not as bad as before. I've been on it for a little over a month. I haven't gained any weight being on it. I hope your daughter does well on it.
