I have had FMS for over 5yrs now and over time my feet and hands (wrists) have gotten worse. non Stop pain, in my wrists I cannot do anything without them hurting, on my right hand sometimes, its as if it gets smaller or thinner and i can see a divot right where the ball of my bone connects from my forearm to my wrists. I get tingly feeling in my fingers and sharp pains.
For my feet, every morning when i wakeup, i can;t just get up and go. I have to twirl my feet around for a few minutes then when I step on the floor its as if my bones are being forced out through the top of my feet. Sharp pains all throughout. I have to walk on the sides of my feet or limp or penguin walk to manage and balance out the pain.
I am sooo sick of Fibro in general but these two particular areas are making me want to chop them off! I have taken a lot of meds, ALOT and nothing helps, not even cortizone shots...I am all out of options here...IF ANY ONE ELSE FEELS THIS SORT OF PAIN IN THE AREAS I MENTIONED, PLEASE, PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU DO TO RELIEVE THE PAIN BESIDES A HOT BATH! I am desperate because i work 3jobs..i have no choice because I was denied disability because i worked while i was waiting for my court day (i guess they suppose i should have js waited around broke) The moment i stop moving, I cry! My feet feel like they are burning! My bones feel like they are crushing...I js turned 27yrs old, I am sick of feelinlg like this, any help! ANY HELP AT ALL!

Mo Stewart,
I am so sorry you are in so much pain... I wish I had a fix for you but I do not..
I to have lots of pain in my feet.. its like every single bone hurts.. i have Arthrits in my feet. along with Fibro . I can barly walk when i fist get up from bed or just sitting at my desk.. it hurts with every step.. i can't even do the gracoery store anymore without using a cart... they do help .. I have to rest my feet on a pillow while sitting at my desk working. I put my legs up as much as Poss. this helps.
Now my hands and wrist are an issue also .. Arthritis and carpotunel ( sorry spelling ) I sleep with a wrist brace on both wrist. this does help .. I tend to have my wrist bent in a weird way while sleeping.. so the brace hepls a lot.. at least it gives them a break for a while.. but most days I find it very hard to type . ( and I work On my computer ) and writing is very very hard.. lots of times I look at it and wonder what it says LOL..
I wish you the best and hope you find some help soon. idea

Hi, again, Mo!  Well, I've had both of these problems.  I find my feet hurt the most during the summer months.  Don't ask me why!  I also had the carpal tunnel problem but that has left, also.

I take ibuprofen (600 mg) with food and also extra strength Tylenol (1,000 mg) for my pain.  These both helped ease the discomfort for me.  I started wearing Birkenstock shoes and that helped my feet but there are lots of great shoes out there that give proper support for the foot.  They are not cheap but worth the money.  Don't walk barefoot.  That just made things worse for me.  I wear Birkenstock like my bedroom slippers.  This way I have support all of the time for my feet and now I don't have nearly the pain now...just in the summer.

I wore wrist braces on my wrists but they drove me crazy so I stopped using them.  I babied my hands and wrists.  I got things that could help me with opening jars and I just tried to keep my wrists at a proper angle.  I also bought a mouse pad that had a soft wrist support and that helped.  It did take about six months for things to start to clear up.  But, my hands were horrible.  I barely could hold a pen to write checks.  Now, I have no pain at all.  So there is hope.

I also take malic acid/magnesium and vitamin D3 to help with pain and fatigue.  There is a link in the Fibro 101 thread about the malic.  I need to put a link in there about the vitamin D because many with fibro are deficient in these nutrients and vitamins!

I hope some of this helps you.  Let us know because we really do care about you!  Feel better soon!

Hi Mo,

I have the same problem with my wrists and also sleep with wrist braces. However, I got myself the ones that just go around the wrist because the ones that go around the whole hand with the hard thingy in the middle (whatever you would call that) bothered me too bad. The ones I use now kind of look like Wonder Woman bracelets and they don't bother me nearly as much.

Also, I will wear them anytime I have to do something that puts a lot of strain on my wrists like typing, vacuuming, etc. I have had a lot of relief doing that, so maybe that would help you, too??
