Another plea for advice...I'm horrible at making decisions.  My husband laughs at me because I can't even pick out a purse for myself!  Anyhow, I've gone to another local dr. who is very concerned about fibromyalgia, and he wants me to start Savella.  That means, that I am weaning off the Paxil...which is starting to make me feel like I'm losing my mind.  On top of that, I visited my regular dr.  prior to that appointment, and he wants me to start taking Wellbutrin instead of Paxil, and continue with Lyrica.  I asked him about the Savella, and he is pretty much against it.  He said that out of a dozen women, only three were able to take it because of stomach issues.  Now...I have gone to two "competing" doctors, both giving me conflicting advice...and I don't know what to do!
I guess I'm asking "what would you do???"  Any suggestions will help.
The Paxil withdrawl is getting to me.  It's 3:22am, and still no sleep.  :(  I do know I need to change meds one way or another.  As the depression does the pain.
Sending out very, very, early morning hugs,

I take sister-in-law who has MS also takes it. It allows me to sleep, and helps with irritability and stress.

I tried the savella but it just made me aggitated, and welbutrin I've also tried but wouldn't take it past the first day because it made me feel dopey.

The rheumatologist I went to told me that Savella is not an anti-depressant, so if you are taking it for that reason, then you really should go with something else. He explained it all to me, but since I was already taken off Savella and put back on the Celexa, I didn't listen to him well enough to explain...but I think he said something about Savella not having dopamine in it that the others have. It has some other ingredient.

I am taking a low does of wellbutrin and savella. I had to wean off from Paxil and it was horrible. I know that taking both wellburtrin and savella is risky; but, it seems to be working for me. The first month on savella was horrible for me; but, I am glad I hung in there. I hope that you are able to find something that works for you. I have been through hell with a lot of medicines and a lot of doctors. The trick is to find a doctor that actually listens to you and understands your personal circumstances with health and life. Good luck!

Hi ...I am new. I have been on Savella for about a year. I developed diarrhea that was persistent for over 3 months. I know I shouldn't have done it...but I went off it a week ago and started taking Naproxin, I used to be on Naproxin for my arthritis pain and had to stop taking it when my Dr. thought I had Fibromyalgia. The diarrhea has stopped but I am having horrific pain in my left shoulder and down my left arm. Also 3 fingers on the left hand have the feeling that they are trying to go to sleep. Would this be typical of with draws from Savella? I am ready to just go back on it, but I don't know what to do. I need advice!

I don't understand why you cant' take both savella and paxil, is it because of serotonin? But if they are putting you on wellburtin, that would give you the same issues. Wellbutrin will give you some energy and help with fibro fog.

Please report the withdrawal symptoms to your doctor, especially if they get bad, there are things you could do to prevent it with doctor's help. Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hugs, Karen
PS  Do let the doctors know what you are doing.  Because it could be looked at as doctor shopping...
