I am curious to know how long you've both had fibro and how long it was before you ended up getting the ssd. I applied for ssd in march or may. I can't remember.. but they said it is so backed up. The letter said it is first come first serve. Unbelievable. There has to be a better way. Meanwhile, people are losing there lives because of not being able to work... lives they used to have. Income is so not what it used to be.
For me once my unemployment is gone.. we are screwed. I am getting very little from compensation. Certainly not enough to live on and that is with my husbands income. He has good benefits, but horrible pay. I am scared!!! I used to be a Medical biller and Collections specialist. It was a very demanding job. Tons of stress. But i miss it. UNfortunately, I was so sick. I know i will never be able to work again. cry

Thanks for any feedback. Much appreciated!!! Laura shakehead

Gonuts have you thought of doing billing from home? I know there are plenty of jobs available for this. I wish I had that option but have never worked at a job that can be done from home..

hi, so sorry to hear about your situation.

i've had fibro for more than six years. i had been dx'd with fibro six months before i got really sick, although looking back i had had mild symptoms for years.

i too had a very stressful job and it required travel. i was out of town on a business trip when i woke up in the hotel room in the middle of the night in such pain i knew i'd never work again. two months later i went on short term diability with my company, and soon after applied for ssd and long term disability from my company.

my first ssd application was rejected but i researched on line and found out that every one is rejected initially. i should have hired an ssd lawyer right away, i would have gotten my money much faster. yes, it takes months. but without a lawyer it takes years or you never get it.

ssd lawyers dont charge you anything upfront. and the flat fee they get if you win is limited by law to a very reasonable amt. as i mentioned, i used binder and binder which i think is a national chain. they helped me build my case and were very nice and helpful.

having said that, i dont know what we would have done without my husband's income. my heart goes out to you. i hope you find a way to manage. you'll be in my thoughts.
