I use this word most fitting. I hurt, but not my normal run of hurt. When I stop pacing, and sit or lie down it feels like someone is shocking me between my skin and muscles. I am not to bothered by the shocking feeling i get with a muscle spasm, but this is more like a current running under my skin. And to be real honest it HURTS!! All i can do is shake my head and wonder have i finally lost my mind? or just my marbles... oh wait i lost them outside when i was a kid. But in all seriousness does anyone else ever get this cruel painful sensation?

And one more, every time it feels like a muscle is being pulled it feels more like the intense pain of it ripping. But i can't decide if it's just my worst flare yet, the pain is that more intense and the pain meds just aren't cutting it. most the time it feels like a different burn, i can actually feel both right now it's a very strange sensation. Where as it is dull achy and generally painful, i've kinda gotten used to that if i didn't hurt i might have to check and see if i had died or something, i guess i've accepted the pain per-say.

So is this just another day in ouch?

HI Watashi, I also have that same electrical pain under my skin. Every so often (a lot this weekend) it feels like someone pokes me with an electrified fence: zaps of pain and twitching muscles and skin, head to toe.

Hi Watashi!

I'm so sorry your pain is turning into this miserable sensation. It's not something I've experienced so I can't say I totally understand that 'shocking' feeling but I can imagine it would make you crazy. I have heard of this from others though and it awful to live with.

What types of things have you tried to help ease this shock feeling? Have you tried warmth? Head of any kind can help sooth and relax muscles. I have invested in several heating pads from a small one for my neck to a full body one with massage in it. You don't have to spend a fortune. I found my large one online for about $50 or $60 bucks I think. Been a while but it was Amazon where I got it. Overstock might have them too.

Also, are there any medications you take or have you talked to your doc about these pains? They may be some medication you could try to at least relieve some of the 'shocks'. Some of the nerve medications might do something. Again, I don't have personal experience nor am I a doctor but I'm trying to toss out ideas that might help in some way.

If you want to give your doc some idea of what your pain is like on a day to day basis it is a great idea to keep a pain journal for a few weeks. Below is a link to a free journal page you can copy and make as many as you need. You print one page for each day and fill in the questions and charts. It takes about 5 minutes/day but when you take it to any of your doctors and ask them to review it they will see exactly what you live through each and every hour of the day. They will also see just how serious you are about getting some relief.

Here's the link to the journal and I do hope it helps!

I get muscle spasms in my hips that feel like a cell phone vibrating. I'm always trying to answer a non-existant cell phone. Usually taking a muscle relaxer or rubbing in some icy hot helps with this.

Thanks for the ideas, i really like the pain journal one thats ideal. Unfortunately the heat is a really bad option for me i get really sick to my tummy and have found i don't enjoy making friends with toilets not mine and especially not strange ones hehe. lucky for me i do actually have an appointment with the pain specialist tomorrow, i find that muscle relaxers do help... but my family doctor can't count <yes i'm still mad> he prescribed them one every 8 hours 3 times a day, and wrote for 45 for 30 days. Icy hot sounds nice though. I did try massage, but not many want to play with that cus i have an auto-immune problem that affects connective tissue. and to be honest it hurts really bad when they paw on me and i'm not really comfortable with strangers paw on me either, but it was worth the try since i work in a teaching hospital.
