Hi Guys
I wonder if you could help. Don't know if Pregnancy could have brought on Fibro?? My son is 5 months old.
I have had chronic D for 2 and a half months now. Had a camera up my botty and apart from a Polyp the doc couldnt find anything. He has taken sum biopsies and will do an ultrasound to look at the rest of my bowels/stomach shortly. I have mild cramping when I need the loo but nothing major. I have been fearing Crohns but all my bloods were normal and have no fever. Celiac bloods came back negative
I was taking codeine to help with D and back pains, and have now come off it (awful withdrawal symptoms) The removal of pain relief has revealed awful shooting pains in my lower right rib and occasionally the left one. My hand and finger joints are so painful especially in the morning and evening.
I cannot sleep! I have never been a great sleeper and in the final trimester I was surviving on and hour a night. Now I can drop off but wake about 1 and can't get back off till about 5. I just start thinking about all sorts of stupid stuff. Sometimes worrying and sometimes just garbage! It is so hard looking after Samuel and I feel a terrible mother because I am tired and have headaches.I can't daytime nap either. Today my toes and neck hurt aswell. I went to the GP today and he had a look at my ribs and back and said it could be a condition that I can't remember the name for. Began with C.
I am scared in pain and tired.
Thank you so much for your time

Sorry to hear you are feeling so rough.  After working for years with pregnant women and new mothers as a social worker, the first thing that comes to my mind is Post-Partum Depression.  Sometimes it really sneaks up on you.  You need to check with your OB-GYN or your baby's pediatrician and tell them how you have been feeling since you son was born and ask if it could be Post-Partum.  There is help out there for you and you will feel so much better when you have a handle on this depression.  Don't just hang in there and try to tough it out.  Getting some answers will help you and your baby.

Hi, Clairabelle, and welcome!  I'm so glad you found us and joined in.  Well, some of your symptoms sure do sound like fibro.  We don't know what causes it.  Some think trauma, or accidents, or illnesses, or surgery, etc.  I came down with the symptoms while watching television!

We do have those aches and pains and we have to find what works best for us.  For me, I use ibuprofen with food, extra strength Tylenol, malic acid/magnesium supplements, and Vitamin D3 supplements for my pain and fatigue.  These allow me to keep my pain under control.

Be sure to check out the Fibro 101 thread...the first thread on the forum.  There are links to good information about fibro including links to the symptoms, malic acid/magnesium supplements, and vitamin D3 supplements and how they work in your body.  You can learn a lot there.

You do need to keep moving.  If you sit or lay too much, you will be stiff as a board and your pain will be worse.  There are some gentle stretching exercises in Fibro 101 that really do help.  Also, find a gentle exercise that you can do.  For me, it's walking.  I also swim and that is wonderful if you have access to a pool.

You also need to learn to pace yourself.  You can't do things in the same time frame as you used to.  It may take a little more time but it all does get done.

Hot showers feel great along with Bed Buddies.  You can find these in Walgreen's and other places or you can make your own.  Take a tube sock, fill it 2/3's full of long grain rice, and tie a knot at the end.  Pop it in the microwave and it gives off moist heat that feels really good on those achy muscles.

Read back posts and don't hesitate to ask questions.  We are here to help you.  I'm happy you joined our family and I hope to hear more from  you soon.

Hi Guys, Thank you so much for replying.
Yo-yo, I think you may be right. I had Bulimia for 17 years, got over it last summer and within 3months of not throwing up, I conceived, after being told I wouldn't be able to due to PCOS! I was really depressed after my first Hubby died (in 1999)and went onto Anti- depressants for a couple of years. So I know I am prone to depression. I can't explain away the Chronic D or joint pain to that tho. Or not that I know of.
I have my Ultrasound apt on 5th Nov to check out the rest of my insides that the doc couldnt reach with the camera.
The other thing I thought was Celiac. Had A blood test and it came back negative. The gastro doc said he had never come across a case of positive Biopsies (am waiting for these results and the results of my polyps) coming back after a negative blood test for Celiac, but the forum on here suggsts otherwise-quite commonly aswell!
There are so many illnesses and syndromes that are so similar. I had a terrible nights sleep last nite, temparature up slightly this morning and feel pants. Baby Samuel is making me chuckle though
Thank you again for making me feel so welcome
