Or is that fibromyalgic?

I had my 6 mth follow up appointment with my rheumy last week. My symptoms are still pretty much the same, except I am having a harder time with the fall weather so I tested positive on the tender points this time. My blood work is of course all normal. So he dictated a letter to my NP stating his findings right in front of me, which I thought was awesome. He confirmed my NP's suspicions of fibro, told him that my meds were helping, but that I may find more relief with Cymbalta or Lyrica, although he added that sometimes the cost outweigh the benefits. I also see no reason to change since my amitriptyline is working fine... for the most part that is.

My facial pain is still there, but I am not surprised at all. The rheumy also recommended getting an EMG done in my face. That I'm not looking forward to! weirdest thing though, most of my acute pain was on the right side, with bilateral bg pain in the cheekbones and ears. A week after I got that troublesome right tooth pulled, the exact same tooth on the left has been hyper sensitive. Today I got a pretty bad pain day, and on the left for the first time ever.

I'm sorry I haven't been around much again. Like I said, I've been having a hard time lately. My pressure points in my back are so sensitive it hurts just brushing my hand over my shoulders. I have been going to tons of appointments, shopping, kids' activities etc, ... like today. I said I had a bad facial pain day? At least it wasn't to the point I couldn't talk this time b/c I had already made a commitment to driving part of the kids for their field trip... 1 1/2 hours away. In the cold, hiking some pretty hard trails, carrying my 2 y/o b/c some parts were very rocky and wet as she is fighting to get down b/c she is at the independent age. Oh! and my filling that was next to the tooth that got pulled fell out! So I have another appointment for that next week, if i can tolerate opening my mouth that is.

I also have a massage, my first ever since I got fibro, booked for the second week in November. It will either help or put me in even more pain, I'm hoping it will feel good.

Halloween is coming up, and I went easy this year. The boys are wearing the same costumes as last year. I bought oldest dd a new costume b/c she already wore her old one twice, and youngest dd's was bought at the end of season last year. It's a little cutesy, not really what I had wanted for her anymore, after all she isn't a baby anymore, but I am not making anything this year. It will be difficult enough, as ds is having his b-day party Halloween day. 10 y/o boys hopped up on sugar for a sleepover, yikes!!! shocked But that Monday, dh is leaving for yet another business trip (his 3rd in 2 mths) and we woudln't be able to celebrate ds's b-day two weeks past his date then. Sooo, you gotta do what you gotta do!

Here is a pic of the costume I made for him last year. It's in a digital scrapbook page, my hobby when I feel well enough to sit :)
I had bought a Clone Trooper costume from Sears last year, but 2 weeks before Halloween I called, and they were backed ordered! So I came up with this, and I think it looks better than any bought costume... other than I had to buy the helmet of course.

If you are interested, here is a scrap page I made after someone from here pointed out Rob Thomas's Her Diamonds song.
Around the same time, I got my first bad facial pain attack. Dh stood at the bottom of the stairs, watching me helplessly as I paced around, trying to outrun the pain. He later learned it on his guitar, he is just the sweetest man.

Sorry about the long post, I tend to ramble! I am going to try and catch up here soon. But for right now, that is my update, and now I am going to go have a hot bath.

But I almost forgot the point of my post. I am happy to finally have a firm dx. I feel validated, somehow :)

((((HUGS)))), I wish you all a good day doing what makes you happy.

Hi Mamanan, so you are an official fibromite now, welcome to the club. I was
wondering how you were doing. I am sorry to hear you are still having the facial pain,
was really hoping that your pain would disapear after you had your tooth pulled.
Hopefully something can be done ro eliminate that pain for good.
So many of us have been flaring lately due to the crummy weather. Sounds like the
cold weather and all that hiking got to you. I don't know how you managed to
carry your two year old, no wonder you are aching. Hope you enjoy the long soak
in a hot bath. It is great that you have a massage scheduled, sounds wonderful!
I know you must be happy to finally get a dx, waiting can be so frustrating.
Hope you are feeling better soon, sending gentle hugs and prayers.
I'll have to check out the pics

Well, I'm sorry you do have fibro but at least the suspense is over. Not knowing, in my opinion, is the worst.

Weather changes are starting to affect most all of us and it's so hard to deal with, even if we keep warm. I do hope you can slow down a bit but I'm sure you are laughing just reading that suggestion...lol You are a very brave and strong woman to do all you take on, but like the rest of us I'm sure you suffer afterwords.

Warm hugs!
Children will not remember you for the material things you provided but for the feeling that you cherished them.

Gee don't you feel honored to be a part of this club??? sad I don't know how you do it with four children  confused You carry a two year old, I would be the one that needed to be carried. smilewinkgrin
My granddaughter brought the baby yesterday to visit and when she comes she moves in for the day and makes herself at home, which she is, but I got so tired I so wanted to tell her it was time to go home but I would never do that. When they finally left at 6:00 I collapsed on the couch. I didn't pick the baby up that many times but I can sure feel it in my hands, arms and shouders this morning.
She did get tired of looking at the dust on the tables and stuff in the living room and cleaned in there. tongue
luv and hugs

I'm sorry that you do have fibro but know you feel better not wondering anymore.  That's hard.  But, I'm glad you are here.  We all understand what you are going through and hopefully can help you.

I'm sorry about the facial pain, too.  But, it doesn't sound like things are quite as bad as they were before you had that tooth pulled.  Your doctor will get to the bottom of that too.  It just takes time but it's hard to wait when you are in pain.  Hope you are having a better day today!

Glad you know. Now you can go about helping yourself feel better. If you don't know the cause, it is just hit and miss. Welcome to the official status of fibro.
gentle hugs,
