Well...it's cold here in central NY.  For the past few years when I go outside in the cold air, the skin on my legs feels like it is shriveling up...pulling tight...I can't really explain it.  It is the most annoying sensation.  It is not  painful.  I sometimes think they are numb but they aren't.  It never happens in the summer.  I also notice in the winter time and the house is cooler I can 'feel' the clothes against my legs with a crawling like sensation.  Like the nap in a  pair of sweat pants drives me crazy.  I end up wearing soft flannel around the house.  If I don't have anything against my legs I don't feel it.  Is the nerve endings in the skin are hyper sensative?  The feeling I get in my legs in the cold air bothers me..its almost like the skin is shrinking up around the bone.  Anyone else ever get this?  Winter is REALLY coming and I had forgotten how aggrevating this is.

I get sensations like that whenever I get "goosebumps". One minute I am fine, then the goosebumps hit, and anything touching my skin hurts, and I am suddenly aware of every inch of skin on my body! I find that when my skin gets a chill it becomes very sensitive, and a bump or scratch or rub that normally wouldn't hurt becomes very painful. If I stay cold too long, then the deeper aches start.

Hey Donna, I get that same sensation on my shins when the weather becomes cold. My
skin feels like almost cool burning, if that makes any sense with a slight tingling feeling.
How is your circulation? Mine is bad due to Raynauds. The blood vessels constrict so there
is less blood circulation. I like the flannels too, nice and soft and warm. Keep warm!

Yes, that is exactly, exactly what has been happening to me since my first flare started in January. I know that, as soon as I start to feel that way, I need to turn up the heat. I can start to feel my clothes on my skin, and then I will start to break out into cold, cold sweats. If I have cotton next to my skin i will happen. I have to have silk longjohns, wool, or polyester of some kind - though I love soft cotton as a top layer, and cotton sheets, just cotton on will bring on the cold shivers. I also have to sleep in silk longjohns with long pants and long sleeves - if anything pokes out from the down comforter I will start to get the cold sweats. Ain't it fun! And I used to like it very cold in my bedroom!!

We hit 20F here last night and I'm wearing my down poofy jacket to work now. Cold!
