Hello.  I am new to fibro diagnosis.  I have been researching the subject of Vitamin D deficiency (of which I am, checked last at 8 then just up to 12 after a summer of sun!) and fibro.  If you would please, take my poll to find out how many fibromites have Vit D deficiency. Thank you!

Ok, the poll is not showing up. Anyone know what I did wrong?

Don't know how to help with poll but I was extremely low in D upon Celiac Dx this past spring...been supplementing since and am now up to a 16 -- getting closer to normal range :)
Fibromyalgia 10/27/09 & Celiac 3/26/09

Med/Supplements: Flexeril at bedtime; Multi-Vit, B, D, Calcium, Magnesium, Malic/Acid, Fish Oil, Probiotic

Still a mystery - heat/humidity intolerance

Hi moeZy and welcome. I couldn't fix your poll but many of us are low in vit D, myself included. I can't even remember now what mine was a year ago, haven't had it rechecked since at least I don't think I have, fog today.

GottaSki, I was just dx with celiac in July and I feel like I'm getting more nutrients but never thought about it helping my vit D, hope so. Have you gained weight since being dx'd??? I thought when the intestines starting healing I would start packing on the pounds but I haven't, not complaining.

luv and hugs

Marlee

Same here....I was low in vitamin D last year, very deficient. Then I was diagnosed with celiac disease and went on the gluten free diet last November. My latest bloodwork shows that my vitamin D level is now normal.

Yes 2 blood test ago they found me low on Vit D and Iron mild anemia that has been happening for years but the Vit D was new.  Took multi vit with iron and Vit D 2000 iu daily and now back to normal levels,

I also know of two women right now my sister and our office manager for our business also were told they were low on Vit D.  They do not have FM or anything like that.  Everyone I think should at least take a multivitamin and try to eat right.

Good luck on your poll.

Ok, much to my chagrine, there is a thread on the fibro 101 post about this! It did not show in the search results, however. Sorry to have duplicated.

I have Crohns Disease, Fibro, and Osteoarthritis and was found to be low on Vit D. I am now taking 2400 units of Vit D and let me tell you it has really helped with my Fibro pain the most. I still have some of the arthritis pain, but my Fibro is much better since starting it. I read some great articles talking about how Vitamin D can help with pain. Hope that helps.

Hi Marlee-

I've actually been losing weight at a steady pace -- slow but sure since I started living GF last March. I had plenty to lose -- I have been gaining unexplained weight steadily for years -- docs would never believe me that I weigh far too much for how active I was and what I ate. But here I am -- been eating roughly the same amount of food since Celiac Dx and have been less active than ever before due to fibro symptoms -- yet I am losing weight.

From what I've learned many celiacs are like me, although the classic symptoms for celiac are weight-loss and D, where myself and many others are weight-gain and C.

Seems my body has been in hording mode for 20 years or more and now that I am eating correctly for my body I'm losing -- I would think that if a person were losing weight before Celiac Diagnosis they would probably begin to gain as their intestine heals.

I was low on vitamin D also. I take 2,000 iu of D3 daily. It really does help.

Don't feel bad moeZy I should have thought about it being in fibro 101, told you fog is thick today. smilewinkgrin

Lisa, I was about 10 lbs over weight when I was dx'd with celiac and have lost about 5 lbs. Probably cause I'm not living on cookies, pastries and etc.

luv and hugs

Marlee

I am also low on Vit. D-3.  I take 4,000 IU per day.  I have chronic vertigo.  Vit. D-3 is the only supplement I have taken that I can feel the results from.  If I skip that one for a couple of days, I am spinning worse than ever.
