Hi all, I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays without too much extra pain!
I was put in a walking boot 2 1/2 weeks ago for what my podiatrist thinks is a problem with a tendon. I went back today for a recheck. The pain in my foot is actually worse than when I went in the first time, and I about came out of the chair when he squeezed my foot!
He took more xrays and they do not show anything broken, so MRI is the next step. I am actually scared that the MRI won't show anything - is that crazy? It seems like every xray, mri, blood test, etc. is always negative and then the doctors just say "oh well, it must be the fibro".
I guess I want something to be wrong so it can be fixed! Foot pain sucks! Okay, I am done complaining for the day - someone just tell me I am not crazy:-) .

I know what you mean. I had a car accident a few years ago, that caused hand and wrist pain really bad. They could not find anything wrong and said it must be soft tissue injury that doesn't show up on any xrays or anything. They basically said there was nothing I could do, hopefully it would get better, but I may always have it.

Well it's been three years and it comes back periodically, and hand pain is SO painful. Last night I was in tears because it hurt so bad, and nothing seems to help it. I guess feet and hands are probably similar, there is so much going on in them and you need them every day.

I guess I had pain yesterday from shoveling snow. Then I was trying to use scissors for my christmas cards, so I must have really aggrivated it. I still get so mad at that stupid girl who rearended me. I do think the fibro makes this stuff worse. Like someone with out fibro may not feel the residual pain for as long.
Hope you are feeling better, hang in there. It does suck and you aren't crazy! I wished there was something wrong that they found with my hands too, so they could fix it.
Take care.

Hi there Upbeat. I remember talking to you before about your foot pain. I am so sorry to hear that things are now worse after using the walking boot. I completely understand about wanting something to show up on tests. I have had many different types of tests that all say I'm "normal"-yeah right. Anyway, you are the only person who really knows your body. If you go through the MRI and it too comes back "normal" don't take "It's just your fibro" for an answer if your body is telling you otherwise. Pursue, pursue, pursue would be my advice even if it means going to another doctor or seeking out alternative therapies such as massage, acupuncture, active release therapy, etc. Foot pain can be disabling so I hope you find your answer and relief very soon. Happy holidays. Lisa

I agree with Gecko. Here's an alternative. Super Cissus Rx is a pill I use for my fibro and arthritis.
It's a plant from India that rebuilds muscle, tendon and ligament damage. I use it with Bio-Sil to
rebuild callogen in joints and Malic Acid to detox. Using all 3 together has gotten me off all drugs from
the drs. I can now do an 8 hour day on my feet and am doing doubles on Christmas and New Years.
It's about $32 a bottle and worth every penny as it also has a built-in painkiller. I don't know how
it works only that it does. Good Luck and hope you feel better.

I so understand you. I just had an MRI done for my facial pain, and it showed a sinus infection. Well, I was just getting over a cold, I don't think I've had an infection for 1 1/2 years. I so wanted to find the cause of my pain and to show the doctors that I wasn't crazy :(

I hope you find relief soon, foot pain is so disabling.

I had symptoms of fibro a few years before I was dx this year, after a C-section with my dd. Anyway, it started with foot and hand pain. I coudln't walk in the morning, and the symptoms fit plantar fascitis (sp). Then it went away with the rest of my fibro symptoms for awhile after I became pregnant again. Then the heel pain came back, for a year, I think. Then it moved to the top of my foot. If I sat for more than 10 minutes, I would limp after getting up. I couldn't put any weight on the top of my foot. I couldn't sit on the floor with my feet under me, it hurt too much. Then I realized one day this fall that it was gone, just like that. I think mine was for sure fibro, but you know your body best. I hope you find an answer!

Thank you everyone for answering - it makes me feel better knowing others understand! Nana, thanks for the tip I will have to look into the Super Cissus.
I had to take my son to the dr this afternoon - he had a red spot on the top of his foot today that was itchy and painful. Then, this afternoon a red streak went from his foot up his ankle. So, he is on two oral antibiotics, two antibiotic creams and I am watching the level of the streak and taking his temp every hour. If either goes up we have to go to the ER. It has only been 5 hours since he started the antibiotic and the streak seems to have stopped!
We have to go back to the pediatrician in the morning so she can look at him again. She said it is either strep or MRSA. All from a tiny cut he got under his toe just yesterday!
Thanks again and I will let you all know if the MRI shows anything.
