I thought I would point this out, since it has helped me so much, maybe I can help someone else in the process.
I have found that the Wii Fit has really helped me with my flare-ups. Every time I feel a flare-up coming on, I get on and do some of the yoga exercises. They are low-stress, and you can really feel your muscles being worked out. If you get the Wii Fit Plus, you can design a work out routine that you can follow. It is helpful to have a set routine with a set time that you can plan into your daily schedule. My routine is currently 19 minutes, just long enough to get my muscles loosened up, but not too long to cause exhaustion and muscle pain. Since you can choose which exercises you want to do, it is very personalized, and you can do exercises that are within your limits.
As I am doing my stretches, I feel as if I have a personal trainer. The board measures your movements, and helps you refine your center of balance. It is amazing to get such personalized information from a game console.
Considering the price, I feel that it is more than worth it. Wii Consoles are down to $200, and Wii Fit Plus is $100 at WalMart. I was paying $90 a week for aquatic therapy, so it has payed for itself in less than a month.
I would strongly suggest this to anyone with fibromyalgia. It is also great for kids, as it gets them up and moving, which would make it beneficial for the entire family.

I just decided to drop in to post about the Wii Fit. I was also going to suggest it!
Its kind of expensive, but for all that it does, its WELL worth the cost! I designed my own workout and I do it several times a day. Im sore, but less sore than when I first started. Its also easier than going to a gym or something... I can do it in my room. And its fun! I absolutely love it!
If any of you have one or know someone who does, try it out! It is very helpful! Not to mention it keeps track of my weight and BMI daily and keeps track of calories and everything! Its very handy! Try it out some time! Some of the games may seem stupid and you probably look crazy doing them lol but its SO much FUN!!
It has helped me! I am getting in good stretching and workouts. I have lost weight and lowered my BMI. And I can feel a difference in my muscles! I was always muscular and when I had to quit sports I gained weight and lost my muscles...but I can feel them coming back now! Im pretty excited about it. So, I would recommend it to everyone!

I loved my Wii Fit when I first got it, but then got bored. I'm not a gamer, so the balance games just grated on my nerves. I really liked the rhythm boxing, steps and hula hoop at first though. I still went back to those on my days I was too sore to get a good work out. At least it got me moving. And I still do enjoy the yoga poses. I found myself so much more attuned to my posture, which helped my shoulder pain tremendously. I just got the EA Active for the Wii for Christmas. I'm on my second day, and I think it is awesome!! I LOVE the kick boxing.. and it's ok that I can't kick higher than a couple feet... it's no one but us chickens when I do it, lol. I could not go to a gym. Besides, that would be impossible with us living in the country and taking care of the kids.

tennisdoc09: I agree 100%! I love everything about it. It is nice to get on, and have fun while your exercising. I also love how it advises you when exercising and setting goals, that way you're not going in blind. I love watching my weight drop, it is reassuring when you can't always see it in the mirror.
mamanan: I could see how it could get boring, but to me, any form of exercising is not exactly exciting. I much rather be in the comfort of my own home than a public gym any day.

It's been a long time Kristy glad you popped in, I miss you on here.
I wanted son and DIL to bring their WII so I could try it over the holidays but they forgot. I'm glad you started this thread cause I didn't know it did all that. My DH joined a gym, don't know how much it cost him, and he has not gone one time. It sounds like we would both get use out of the WII. Have to give this some serious thought.
luv and hugs

Marlee2: It really is a great investment, especially for those of you with families, it will get a lot of use, that's for sure!
Carnissa: I was surprised too, I wasn't expecting to be able to benefit from it, so I was pleasantly surprised.
Marie76: I hope you find it as beneficial as I have! You can really start to feel a difference in just a couple of days. I've especially found some improvement in my balance, I still have terrible balance, but it is better than it was previously.
porkysgal: My family does little challenges on the Wii Fit, seeing who can get to their goals first or who can get the highest score. Maybe this will be something you can your granddaughter will be able to do together!

I just wanted to add I've also got some positive results with the Wii. I've been dealing with fibro for close to nine years now and although I've only been doing the Wii fit plus and personal trainer for about a week now (my daughter bought it for me for christmas, bless her heart) I've noticed a huge difference in my balance and strength. I've yet to see anything to help with the fatigue, I'm REALLY hoping over time it will, but just to walk better and not having any comments about my limp is a huge plus!! Try it if you can, although it is expensive it has come down in price. You can go at your own pace and I believe it is a huge benefit.

I've gotten results with both the Wii Fit and EA Active, although I am able to stick with the Wii Fit for longer. I am terrible at sticking with exercise, but once I stuck with the Wii Fit for a whole month. which is really good for me. The balance games are pretty fun. I also really like the rhythm boxing.

The Wii Fit does wonders for me! Unfortunately, the cold winters do a number on me and I can't get any form of energy or motivation because I'm so tired and achey all the time...I'm trying to push myself to start getting back to the Wii again because I know it will make such a difference!
