Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself before jumping in on too many topics.

I'm 36 and have 2 wonderful boys. I received a fibro diagnosis after my youngest was born 6 years ago. I never quite "recovered" from that very difficult pregnancy. I've also been diagnosed with non-celiac gluten intolerance, high blood pressure, cervical radiculopathy and migraines. When we discovered the gluten issue, my aches and pains decreased considerably with a GF diet. So much so that I thought maybe that had been my problem instead of fibromyalgia, but no such luck. Wishful thinking on my part. There are some days that just getting out of bed makes me feel like it has been a successful day...

I do what I must to take care of my family, and I'm so very fortunate to be able to be a stay at home mom. At least I can't be fired for the days that I have to shift into barely functioning mode...

At the moment, I also have no health insurance, and reserve going to the doctor to when it is absolutely unavoidable. I finally had to go last month after several months of serious migraines that robbed me of 10 days per month, and my BP was acting up, so that was not anything to put off or mess around with, so I forked over the cash and was prescribed 2 meds that are supposed to help with migraines and also control the BP.

My latest issue seems to fit costcochondritis, and man is it painful. Started a couple of weeks ago with a popping sensation in my chest and has progressively worsened. Today is by far the worst day so far with that. I'm trying to relax as much as possible before the kids get home from school and I have to start the rounds of homework with them.

In any event, thanks for the time and I look forward to participating on these forums. It is good to have a place to "go" where others understand how you feel.

Hi Caligirl2001,
Welcome to the HealingWell fibromyalgia forum.  I am so happy that you have joined us.  And thank you for the introduction thread, it is nice to get to know a little about each member.
It sounds like you have a grip on your fibro even though you are dealing with so much right now.  I am happy for you.  It is a hard disorder to contend with at times.  But we have to just keep plugging along one day at a time.
Familiarize yourself with the fibro101 thread.  It is the second thread on the forum.  You will find a wealth of information there and some very interesting reading.   It is very informative.
I hope that you enjoy the forum.  We do a lot of virtual fun things that helps relieve stress and lets us get to know one another.
Best wishes for a wonderful day,
Hugs, Karen

Hi, and welcome!  I'm so glad you found us and joined in.  Oh, I have costo too and it does hurt.  My doctor has me taking ibuprofen with food to help with that.
I see that Karen directed you to the Fibro 101 thread.  There are links to a lot of good info about fibro and also ways to help you deal with it.  I'm sure you have some good tips yourself that you can share with us.
I use ibuprofen with food, extra strength Tylenol, malic acid/magnesium supplements, and vitamin D3 to help with pain and fatigue.  There are links about the supplements in the Fibro 101 thread.  I haven't used the heavy duty medication for fibro and I hope I can maintain my control over the pain using these things.  They have helped me for a long time already.
Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you.  I'm looking forward to getting to know you better and I hope to hear more from you soon.
