What makes a good pizza? If you could order up a pizza made any way you want it with anything on it, what would it look and taste like.

I do love a good pizza once in a while. The frozen ones, or what we call cardboard pizzas, just don't make it for me. But we have a take out local pizza place around here that puts all of those chain places to shame. They do them exactly the way I like them. The crust is buttery flavor and thick with a light crust and a chewy texture. Then a flavorful tomato sauce but no too much. I don't like to bite into it and have it oozing out all over. Next is lots and lots of real Canadian bacon! <drool> and, you guessed it, pineapple. Some mozzarella cheese, some good cheddar, not the phony American cheese but something that's actually aged. Bake until the center is hot and bubbly, not over done, let it cool for about 10 minutes and dive in! I haven't had any for a long time but now that we're talking about it we may just have to go get one soon.

What does your perfect pizza look and taste like?

I had a pizza last night at a local pizza place with alfredo sauce, fresh spinach and cherry tomatoes on a thin crust and it was awesome!  My fave is ham and pineapple.  Yummy!

Panera Bread used to serve pizza. It was awesome. They had a really great pizza with a garlic & grapefruit olive oil sauce, crimini & portabella mushrooms, I can't recall what type of cheese, but it was AWESOME !

*sniff sniff* I miss that pizza. shakehead
ETA : Pizza Ranch (there's one in Morton close to where I work, none in Peoria unfortunately) has a light buttery crust. They have a really good *prairie style* pizza, which is vegetarian with lots of olives & green peppers. mmmmm

I don't have any place where I live that makes really "good" pizza, just the chain stores. But I make a great deep dish pizza with two crusts, cheese, sauce, and veggies inside, and sauce on top. Yum!

I miss good New York style pizza - even plain cheese was awesome. My favorite has always been sausage, mushroom and extra cheese. Since I can't consume gluten anymore, I have to settle for home made.
