OK, here's a silly question....

When you sit down to a meal, let's say a full meal with meat of some sort, starch and vegetable, what do you eat first? Do you eat all of one thing and then move to the next? Do you eat some of each item until it's all gone? Are you a 'mixer' and just stir it all together? What's your style???

Hubby always digs into the veggies first. Gets them out of the way so he can enjoy the rest of the dinner. tongue I'm one who takes a little of each item in turn until it's all gone...most often. There are a couple of things I mix like homemade mac and cheese with green peas. Gotta mix those up. That's a holdover from my school lunch days. But for the most part I whittle the stacks down until I'm full or it's all gone, whichever comes first.

What's your eating style??

I finish one food and then move on. Usually veggies, then protein, then carbs if I'm having some. I know it's silly for a grownup but I don't like my foods to touch each other unless it's a stew, soup, or casserole. My husband keeps offering to get me one of those divided plates you use with picky toddlers.

Lol, Dagger. You sound like me. I can't STAND for my food(s) to touch each other. I'll eat a few casseroles and soups, but as a general rule, I like to keep things separate. :)

When I am eating (with my food not touching, of course), I kind of go around the plate and take bites of everything until it's gone. I usually save a bite of the best thing for last though!

Some things do taste better mixed but if I'm not eating any of those I take a bite of everything.

I tend to taste each thing, then I eat each thing until it is gone, and as posted above, I save the best for last. Don't know why I do that, didn't do that as a youngster. It is just a wierd habit I picked up somewhere. Who knows, sometimes we fibromites are strange...

OK, now I feel better! I'm not the only one with a plate routine at supper time. Old Chutzie was beginning to thing my trolley had totally gone of it's track.

I usually eat a little of each till they're gone. Unless I have green beans. For some reason they seem to get cold really quick, so if I have green beans I always eat them first before they get cold. Diane

I take bites of everything, rather than finishing off one food first...and depending on what I'm eating, I will mix things together. If we're having mashed potatos though, I always start and end the meal with them...it's my favourite food ever!

I eat a little bit of everything and never mix anything together, that is when I sit down to actually eat a meal.  I usually eat small meals (or snacks) every few hours.

Pam, I'm like you about mash potatoes being my favorite.  I could eat a mountain full.  If I have them on my plate that's the first thing I dive into.  Most of the time I have peas with them and I do mix them sometime.  Other than that I take a bite of everything on my plate, but meat comes last.  I love veggies better than I do meat.
God Bless!

I like all my food seperate. I don't like it touching either. Of course, I eat the fries first as they get colder quicker then the burger.
Nothing better than a bacon, mushroom, swiss with peanut butter and dill pickles. As for vegetables....the only ones I like
are the ones I date.

I never really paid attention to how I eat or what I eat first but after reading this I'm wondering now...I do know I usually eat first the food that I don't want to get cold, like mashed or scalloped potatoes because they don't taste as good if they're not nice and hot.
