"EFT®: The surprising natural healing aid you can use for almost everything"

I copied the above statement from the EFT website. In my opinion, if something or someone claims to cure "everything," it's most likely good for "nothing."

There are lots of good treatments out there to help manage fibro, but unfortunately, there aren't any cures yet. There is a lot of research being done to find the cause of fibro. But until researchers find a cause, it's unlikely they will find a cure.

I'm not saying that "natural" remedies don't help; many of us use massage, heat, ice, stretching, meditation, etc., but I think we need to be very, very careful. There are so many scams out there. A good place to start would be your doctor, asking her what alternative treatments she recommends.

Good luck. :)

EFT is a new age therapy using acupunture meridians to relieve pain by tapping on the points with your finger.  It is also used for weight loss, smoking, drinking, gambling...and the list goes on into infinity.  In my opinion, snake oil and another way to suck a bazillion dollars out of your wallet.  No...I haven't tried it, but having once lived in one of the New Age Mecca's of the world for many years, I have seen this technique peddled  on every street corner.  I can pull on my own ear lobes for nothing.   The placebo effect is very powerful when people are desperate.  There are, however, many alternative methods that are used successfully to treat pain, such as yoga and meditation.  The founder of this technique promises a 'cure'.  Red Flag.

Yep, I agree with the other members.  AND there are no cures for fibromyalgia yet.  If someone says they have been cured, they never had fibro to begin with.  I'd hang on to my wallet if I were you.

At least with EFT, you can watch a bit on YouTube and give it a try without it costing money. Plus, it's safe. I have a co-worker that says it relaxes her and helps her deal with stress.

Hi Paperprincess,

I don't have fibro, but I do suffer from unrelenting chronic pain. I did try EFT about 2 years ago at my mother's strong urging. First off, let me state that I do believe in many alternative forms of medicine (although I was never too keen on this one), and I know that what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another, so maybe this will help you. But my honest opinion is don't waste your time & money!!!

I did one session (about 3 hours) over the phone & it was the most bizarre thing I've ever done. The guy was real creepy & kept having me say these strange things (I wish I could remember what they were) while tapping my head and chest. Surprise, surprise it didn't work at all. The guy's response? "Oh, well then you must have something physically wrong that is causing your pain..." Well, DUH!! Of course I have a medical condition that causes my pain! I really didn't need to waste several hours of my life & a chunk of my parents' money for some random person to tell me that!

Hope this helps.
