Hi  I haven't been on line for a little while because of hectic things going on at home but I did want to share with you guys that I finally found I think, the right rheumy for me. It only took going through 4 others before I was completely satisfied with the diagonsis she gave me and I am definitly going to stick with her.  I wwent to see her last week and she listened to everything I had to say and asked alot of questions. She told me that I definitly do have fibro, which I did know that for a long time plus I have osteoarthritis and also what she found, which did amaze me was that I am borderline lupus.  She actually took out this small light and swabbed my fingernails and found sores underneath them. I can't see them but she did and that's when she said to me you are definitly borderline lupus. Now she did alot of blood work and I will know definitly next week. I knew there was something else wrong with me but everytime I mentioned it to my last rheumy he would just ignore it. I am not happy with the diagnosis but at least I know finally that this doctor took the time and found out exactly what was wrong. She put me on another med called amitriptyline for nighttime and upped my effexor during the day. Sometimes it takes years and 1 doctor after another until we can finally find one that totally understands you and points us in the right direction.

Hi Greyhounds mom,

I am sorry that you have fibro, but glad that you got a dx. I hope that you don't have lupus. It is a terrible desease. But it sounds like you got a good rheumy now so that is good. She sounds thorough.

I hope that you feel better soon and keep posting.

best wishes to you.

hugs, Karen

Welcome back!  I'm glad you finally found a doctor that you like and that listens to you.  That's half the battle and it can take a long time, too.  You do need to trust your doctor and have a good rapport with them and it sound like you do.
Let us know what you find out about the lupus.  I know people can have fibro and lupus.  I'll be praying that that's not the case for you.

(Jeannie is packing up a big crate full of mysterious equipment...) Ok, GMom, here is our Doctor Cloning machine. Uumph! (Jeannie shoves the crate at Greyhounds Mom.) Please take this to your next appointment and hide it behind the door in the exam room. As soon as your rheumy walks in push it against the door and put on the little foil hat enclosed. (This will prevent you from being cloned, too!) Turn on the machine and don't turn it off until you have made about 20 copies of your doctor to disseminate out into the world for others to receive help from. We are going to start asking this of all our members who find Fibro Friendly Doctors. This way we will be able to help more fibros, until there is a cure.
