Let's all try to find some food trivia. Not sure how well this topic will go but we'll try anyway. I did a fast Google search and found all kinds of fun and funny things. Here's mine for today...

Mock Turtle Soup is an English soup whose gelatinous quality makes it very much like a turtle soup. Mock Turtle soup was created in the mid 18th century as a cheaper version of the more expensive Green Turtle soup. It is made with a calf's head, seasonings and wine (usually Sherry or Madeira). After cooking, the head is taken from the broth, cooled and the meat cut into pieces. The broth is strained and clarified and reheated with the cut pieces of meat and sometimes diced vegetables.

The people at Guinness, Ireland’s most famous brewery, estimate that in Great Britain alone, 92,749 litres of beer each year are lost in beer drinker’s moustaches and beards. They estimate that each pint (approx. ½ liter) is raised 10 times, and each time, 0.56 ml is absorbed into the facial hair.

MoonPies (marshmallow between 2 chocolate covered Graham crackers) were introduced in 1917 by the Chattanooga Bakery in Tennessee. They supposedly developed the MoonPie to sell to Appalachian coal miners as a snack.

What food trivia can you share today?
