Hello All:
I stumbled across this site tonight and am thankful that I did. I'm 42, and I have been a nurse for 21 years. This career takes a toll on even the healthiest of bodies, so you can imagine what a fibro sufferer goes through. I'd like to share with you some dietary and physical modifications that I have implemented for myself in the last 6 months that is improving my health tremendously:

1: Organic foods as much as possible. Getting rid of the toxins in my body has made a difference in my energy levels, bowel habits (for the better-no more constipation), and pain.

2: I cut the caffeine: stimulants are the worst thing persons with neuromuscular hyperexcitability need.

3: No more aspartame, diet cokes with aspartame or any artificial sweeteners. All that I would drink was Diet Coke for many years, and after giving them up my pain has decreased markedly. Flares have diminished in frequency and duration.

4: Pilates, moderate cardio with light weights. Pilates is the ultimate excercise vehicle for FM patients . I feel fantastic afterwards, and in the morning I hardly have pain until up in the day.

I will expound on the details of these modifications later; I really need to get to bed.

I am so glad that you have found improvement in your fibro pain. I too have drastically changed my diet by eating Organic foods and also by eliminating everything that my body is sensitive to including all the soda and junk food. In doing so, my fibro pain has decreased greatly. I believe what you eat plays a key role  in how you feel.
I have changed my whole lifestyle by taking a Holistic Approach to my health which includes my Body, Mind and Spirit.  Just trying to get all three on the same page and working together. So far it has been working for me so I am sticking with it.
Hoping that you continue to see improvement and encourage you to keep on doing what works for you.
