3mg of melatonin does well for me. I also use that sleepytime tea. It has valerian in it and that helps. I take ambien too. But like to take a break from it now and then and the melatonin does help. Though ambien works better for a restful sleep.
I hope that you get some sleep soon. It is no fun going without it. It isn't healthy either.
