Do you remember any funny sayings? Maybe ones that you hadn't heard before that just stuck you as really funny?? Maybe it's something your grandparents or parents used to say, or in my case it would more likely have been one of my uncles. They were always coming up with old country sayings that I had never heard....and most of them I can repeat. Something like this is what I'm talking about...

That’s about as useful as a trap door on a canoe!

Build a bridge, and get over it!

Life's hard. Get a helmet.

Well, don’t you look prettier than a glob of butter melting on a stack of wheat cakes!

OK, some of these are pretty silly and some very old but somehow the older they get the funnier they seem. tongue Do you have one or a few to share?

The one I remember from my uncles when I was trying to put something away one day was...

"You can't stuff a 7# rooster in a quart jar!" HUH? smilewinkgrin tongue

What sayings or old phrases make you laugh?(remember this is a family site smilewinkgrin )

How about "dumber than a bag of marbles".  Kids used to say that all of the time.

My mom used to say - (ok, I'm spelling this phonetically) - "Seez to Billygoots?", meaning, "See, Billygoat?"
Then there was my dad - "You get more flies with honey than with vinegar," "How do ya like them apples?", "Wonderbar," and "Jolly good."

Here's one,

Not the sharpest tool in the drawer.

I saw one on teeshirt at the therapist office that said something like... I am trying to find myself. If you see me, tell myself to wait here, I will be right back. I thought that was cute.

A few cards short of a deck. There are a lot of them, just can't think of them all right now. When I hear a good one, I forget it anyway. Good old fibrofog!!!

My grandmother used to say "half a loaf is better than none". She was quite a character and she had some others that I can't repeat here. :)
