Sheila, pain is probably the biggest factor that doesn't allow us to get sleep. I wake up
almost nightly from pain. We miss out on the deep REM sleep and it's that sleep that our
body produces a hormone called somatostin. Somatostatin helps with restoring our body and giving us energy. I found that I sleep best when I take cyclobenzaprine before bed, but
I don't want to take a muscle relaxer every night. Sleep deprivation is frustrating!
