Let me just preface this with saying I do not have a diagnosis but am hoping to see a rheumotologist soon. (I have another post previous to this one regarding tingling and muscle twitches)

anyway, i was reading some posts about how heat is your friend. Is there anyone on here that gets WORSE with heat?? My symptoms actually tend to get worse when i am hot. My leg and foot start to feel swollen, but I know it is not. And I get more light headed. Although when I am extremely cold my bones ache more. So maybe I am sensitive to both? I did get tested for MS and being sensitive to heat is one of the hallmark signs of that, but no lesions were found in my brain.

I use to garden alot before diagnoses and everytime I would end up in bed freezing, sick and in pain. Heat makes me sick and very weak so I don't garden anymore. But when I am inside in the air conditioning I am freezing ( raynauds syndrome ). When I am in pain I am usually very cold.

Hope you get some answers at the reheum. appt.

Kellie I answered your previous post and now I will let you know with this one that I cannot handle extreme heat or extreme cold. I am like Sheila if I am in the heat for very long I will get sick. I also wear a jacket alot of times in the house because of the air conditioning. I would turn it up but I have to think of my husband who does have Multiple Sclerosis and he does have to stay cool. Heat for him is extremely bad.

Once again I hope you get some answers soon

thanks for teh replies. heat doesn't make me sick necessarily..... just really light headed and weak. I am wondering if that is a reason why it is hard for me to exercise because my body temp rises. My back doesn't even hurt from the bulging disc. I do get numb patches in my right leg but i think that would be from the disc.

Every summer all of my symptoms get worse.  I can barely be out in the heat at all.  I get very weak.

I think when you read about heat being you friend, it was probably meant for a bed buddy (which is a tube filled with rice that you can place in the microwave and put around your neck), or a hot shower. When our muscles get tight or achey, often putting heat directly on the area loosens it up. That is why you read somebody post that heat is your friend.

I cannot tolerate hot weather. Especially if it is humid. And I can't tolerate the really cold weather either. I am comfortable around 70 degrees. I wish that there was a place that it was 70 all year around. That would be like heaven.

Take care Bridget, I hope that you feel better and I hope that you get your diagnosis soon. So that you know what you are dealing with.

Hugs, Karen

My husband hates that I need the bedroom cold and refuse to take vacations in hot places. But I can't stand to shower or swim in cool water.

I'm very sensitive to extreme temperatures too (cold is worse, though) and now that hot flashes are in the mix I'm just more fun than a barrel of monkeys!  turn

I have always loved the spring and summer, and hated the fall and winter.  I enjoy gardening,  watching things grow, and the hot weather in general.  It has always been much easier for me to tolerate heat than cold.  However, during the past few years, I do find it harder to tolerate the humidity during the summer months.  It seems to sap my energy, and I notice the body aches more when it is humid.

Heat has been increasingly difficult for me to deal with! I have been tired and sick since the summer started, and it seems to be getting worse!
