Hi superwierd, just wanted to say hi and welcome to our family. I am not a dr. so I cant give you a diagnosis of fibro, however it does sound like alot of the symptoms of fibro. You might want to read fibro 101 at the top of the board. It has some great tips for managing fibro.

If at all possible it might be a good idea to see a rheumatologist to find out if it is fibro. I admire your courage in not wanting to drink away the pain. I also understand you being wary of drugs but there is a difference in taking them for pain and being addicted. I think the key here is to only use them if you absolutely need them.

Some of the rest of the family will be here soon to give you more advice and hopefully they will have some good suggestions as far as pain management without the drugs.

Gentle Hugs

Hello and welcome to the forum! I'm sorry for your pain and wish you could see a
doctor so that you could be evaluated and helped. Seeing a doc is really the first step
in getting treated. Fibromyalgia has simular symptoms to other disorders and it would
be in your best interest to seek medical advice. If you do not have insurance is there
a free clinic in your area or perhaps calling Social Services and they could give you
some info about seeing a doctor. Sending you gentle hugs. Please keep us posted.
We do care!

Hi, and welcome!  You do sound like you could have fibro but you do need a firm diagnosis.  You should have tests run to rule out other illnesses that have the same symptoms.
I don't like to take drugs either so I've been using ibuprofen (600 mg) and extra strength Tylenol.  I also take malic acid/magnesium supplements and vitamin D3 supplements.  These help with pain and fatigue.
You do need to keep moving, too.  You should pick a gentle exercise to do daily.  I walk and swim as my exercise.  I also do daily stretching exercises, too.  I'm far better if I keep moving and not sitting too long.
Be sure to check out Fibro 101...the second thread on the forum.  There are links to info about fibromyalgia.  There are links about the supplements I mentioned and they will tell you how they work in the body.  Also, there is a link called What Else Could It Be?
I'm so glad  you found us and joined the family.  I hope to hear more from you soon.
