Hi I am new here! I was "diagnosed" with fibro a week ago. In this past year I have been tested for everything including Lupus but my test are coming back normal. My doctor says my symptoms line up with fibro and he started me on Savella a week ago. Does anyone know how long it takes to kick in? I read it takes 2 months. Also, at what times do you take your Savella. The pack says morning and evening but I read it's good to take it early morning and early afternoon.

Thank you and nice to meet you!

P.S. Does anyone here get sick in the sun but are not diagnosed with lupus?

Welcome to the family Amy! You will find lots of caring and supportive fibromites
here. It is a great place to come because you know people understand.

I also take Savella and have been on it for just over a year. It took about two
months before I noticed any differance. My rheumy started me out with two 2-wk
triation packs, so it took a month before I was taking 50 mgs 2x daily, which is
my dosage now. I take it after breakfast and around 8 in the evening. I never had
any bad side effects.

Every once in awhile I'll have trouble with photosensitvity. I take precautions and
be sure to wear plenty of sun screen and don't sit in direct sun. I also have lupus
as part of mixed connective tissue disease.

Be sure to read fibro 101 page one, there is some wonderful info for fibromites.

Im so glad you have joined us. Come post often with any question or concern,
we care!

hugs, Robin

Welcome to the forum. If you are iffy on your diagnoses asked questions. Your Rhuemy and Dr.'s are hired by you. It is up to you. Fibro tends to run with other things as far as what I've learned. Talk to you soon.
BTW.... Never been on Salvella just cymbalta and I hate it. it does nothing and is near impossible to get off this crap. Good luck I hope you feel better soon. Heather

Hi Amy, and welcome to our family.
I have been taking Savella for about 3 months and have never had any side effects. I to started with the starter kit and worked myself up. I was pretty sever 3 months ago and flare alot, but I could see some differences in the way I felt about the end of my 2nd month. Still was not sleeping and still experiencing pain so after that he added some additional medication and I am feeling so much better. There is lot's to learn here. Fibro 101 at the top of the threads is awesome and everyone here will answer any questions, share information and just listen when that's what you need.

AND ..Mama6 is right, make sure you ask all the questions when you have your doctora appointment. You are in charge of you. Make sure you have a great doc that's working with you and not against you. Not having that stress alone will help the way you feel.

Welcome again

Hi, Amy, and welcome!  I'm glad you found us and joined our family.  I think you will like it here.
I don't take Savella so I can't be any help with that.  I use ibuprofen with food, extra strength Tylenol, malic acid/magnesium supplements, and vitamin D3 to help with my pain and fatigue.  I also do stretching exercises, gentle daily exercises (walking and swimming), and just keeping moving.  If you sit or lay too long with this illness, you will be stiff as a board.
Be sure to check out Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum.  There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot.  There are links about malic acid/magnesium supplements and vitamin D3 and how they work in  your body plus there are plenty of other "goodies" in that thread!
Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you.  I hope to hear more from you soon.
