My nightmares awake me through the dead silent night,
The angels that protect me, vanish from sight,
Tormenting visions, never leaving my head
Binded to darkness, pain is where I am led,
No escape from my H*ll, the torture comes from within,
Not sure why it started, or how it will end
I strive for some answers, starring , reflection in mirror
I turn away quickly, my reality frightfully clear
Knowing I am the nightmare that keeps me awake
My acceptance of this life, is more than I can take
Fibro,  unwanted, selfish, and hated friend,
You may stride with me until all of days end,
I accept now you've changed all that I see,
A friend without whom, I don't know who I'd be,
This is life now, accept what may come
We are strong, we fight back, you'll never have won.
yeah From, Heather          .It's been a rough day so this is my raw feelings of the day. Hope everyone is as pain free as possible

I enjoyed reading your Ode to Fibromyalgia. Hope you feel better soon!
Mama, I can relate to that poem...I express myself through poetry also.
Going through my poems I can see how my attitude has changed. I wrote
this poem when I was having a very difficult time accepting my diagnosis.
I think it is common to go through stages of grief before for acceptance.
Not to say that we can't have a bad after we have accepted our illness.
I find it hard to believe that I wrote this. It seems so dark, but that is how
i felt back then.
Prisoner of Pain
Bound by the misery of unending pain
I am a prisoner, a prisoner of pain
Feeling tortured, trying to remain sane
Each day I wait hoping for relief
Praying today I'll be spared from this grief
Maybe tomorrow the pain will go away
And let me enjoy a pain less day

Robin, I don't think your poem was dark, I think it was good. Some days are better than others. Whenever I finally get a good rhuemy, I think, and pray, wink I will have more good than bad. For now that's not the case. Thanks for letting me express. Heather
