I'm letting my doctor know I have applied for SSDI. I hate it because Iam

nervous, even though I know it's what I need to do.

My doctor who diagnosed me with the Fibro. osteoarthritis, back

problems, and depression is gone. This will be the 2nd time for me seeing

          her replacement. shocked

I'm still going for it though because I know it would be impossible for me

to work anymore.  I could really use some support and prayers, and any

tips or suggestions are most welcome.

So what all do you all think? Anyone have any similiar experience?

Do you think it's a bad idea and I should wait till he knows me better?

When I make up my mind to do something, I usually just jump in with

both feet!  I'm also trying to not allow myself to worry about his opinion.

But  I know it matters, because what he writes on his report makes a

difference in the ruling. Then again, more than likely I'll be turned down

          this first time.

Gee doctors and judges sure have alot of power.

I gotta get to bed now, but will answer any replys asap.

Casting all my care on Him for He cares for me. I'm trying Lord

             Blessings, Debbie

*Hugs* Debbie. I'm in the same boat tomorrow at 9:am. Seeing a rheumatologist for the first time. Going to put all my history and cards on the table and if he seems decent I'll tell him I'm applying for disability. The doc who diagnosed me years ago retired in March. The doc I finally found now suggested this rheumy. We've gotta do what we've gotta do. We'll go in believing in ourselves and they can't take that away from us.

Will be thinking of you.
Why my username? It is real life nickname. I love chickens. Will have my flock of hens one day! :D .............. DX'd with Fibromyalgia, chronic hives, sensitivities and allergies, migraines with auras, tmj, and IBS. Not sure what else!

Hi Debbie!

Here's my take on your sharing this with your doctor... is there a reason to be nervous about it? Do you think he/she will judge you? She can't stop you from applying and they also must submit forms that are requested. It's part of total health care of a patient.

I guess I see this more as your decision and you are just sharing it with your doctor. They are just people too, Debbie. I used to be so intimidated by doctors, state officials and even teachers until I became one...lol. They are just people like us. Only thing is they are the legal right to issue prescriptions and try to diagnose and treat health problems we have. Their power is limited when it comes to getting help with any kind of benefits we might choose to apply for. So try to relax and think of this doc as a neighbor down the block. She's a neighbor to someone!

And remember, if you get the jitters take a deep breath, think of us here at HW and know that we are right there with you...OK? I'll be the one on your left side holding on to you gently. ;-)

Warmest hugs! and let us know how it went.

You can get the records of your old doctor.  When I applied, I hadn't seen my doctor because I had moved over a year previously but I still had those records sent when Social Security asked for them.  Actually, many of my doctors were up north and I was now in Florida.

Good luck...I hope it all goes well for you. I understand the frustration of realizing that you can't work anymore. It was so hard for me to make the desicion to apply for disability. Unfortunately for reasons that appeals cannot change...I am not eligible...but I will keep you in my prayers that it will all work out for you.
Trying to keep my focus...

Hi Debbie, I understand what you are going through, when i decided to apply for disability I went to see my doctor to see if he would back me up. He told me that he would definately help and that he was surprised it took me so long. I got approved the first time and I know alot of it was because of his backing. Sherrine is right in the fact that they will use the records from your old doctor too. So even if this one says he cant back you the records from your other dr. might still do the trick. Good luck and I will be praying for you.
Gentle Hugs

Hi Debbie,

I am on SSDI but was approved due to another illness I've had and before I developed Fibromyalgia. Fibro came after the fact. I'm sorry that you are feeling so poorly and just wanted to encourage you to continue on with your plan. There are others who have been approved due to fibromyalgia and you can too.

I will lift you up in prayer. Always remember and never forget that God is with you and He will see you through.

Keep the faith,

Shari
