Sorry to be away so long. Sometimes I find time for a quick read and a short comment but I have been doing 4 & 5 wedding cakes a weekend and barely have time to breathe. Hubby is "retiring" (quitting an underpaid job) on Saturday and we are going up to Lake Leelanau to stay at the trailer for 9 days.

I have noticed that I am getting weaker than I was. Have to start doing yoga or something to get my stamina back (like when I was swimming). Gonna have to ask the good Lord for the funds to get back to the YMCA for swimming. That's the only thing I can do that doesn't hurt & really helps. Walking with a walker isn't really much of a work out... and I'm using the little go carts in the stores so I can accomplish what I need to before the pain sends me home.

Sorry, I sound like I'm whining... Not trying to, just venting a bit. This economy has us all scrambling, especially in Michigan, and the heat hasn't helped. In late July I finally broke down and ran the air conditioning while running the ovens so we wouldn't all pass out from the heat in the bakery. Had the dance now it's time to pay the piper... Electric bill came... $285.00!!!
Thankfully we had the income to cover it but that's a lot of electricity for an 800 sq. foot home! Things have cooled a bit so next month shouldn't be so bad.

Hope you're all doing well. May sound corny but just knowing I have you all in my corner when my fibro is driving me nuts really helps. Regular friends just don't get it and I hate to complain to hubby... and daughter has fibro, too, so she doesn't want to hear it either. So, thanks for being there for me, even if it's only because you are posting a funny or asking for prayers. You are very helpful to me.

Hi, Jeannie!  I'm glad you are getting all that business!  That's wonderful.  I know it's hard on you but I'm sure you love the paycheck.  I do know what you mean about the electric bill.  I turned my central air up to help save when I got a bill last year for around $350!  I have ceiling fans and use them all of the time.
My friend has a daughter that was misdiagnosed with lupus.  Not sure what she had but her joints killed her and she could barely move.  She started taking glucosamine sulfate and it helped clear up the discomfort!  She still takes it but she now runs a personal chef business and has two young children!  Have you ever tried that?  I know they usually suggest the glucosamine with chondroitin but she used the glucosamine sulfate and made a point of pointing that out!  I just remembered this last night and wanted to mention it on the forum and your post is perfect.  I really hope this can help you.  You don't want to get so weak you can't walk.  By the way, keep an eye on your blood sugar.  I tried this and it raised mine but everyone is different.  It's worth a shot!
We sure miss you around here and hope things settle down in your life.  Happy vacation at the lake!  I know you love that time away.

Thanks for writing to let us know what's going on in your world. I think it helps to get things out here - we can all relate and it helps us know each other better.

Maybe your fibro is a bit worse due to the heavier demands that have been on you with all the extra work baking etc. It may improve again when things mellow out with your work schedule. And you're really smart to be searching for ways to build yourself up. Let us know what works and what doesn't. It's always good to hear such things.

Hope everything goes great for you from here forward.

Thank you all!
Chick, my fibro is the same, it's my muscles that are going to pot (LOL!) I feel like the saggy, baggy elephant! I'm going to see how the (thing you keep when you are keeping track of your spending.... @#$%^ Can't remember the word!) money goes and maybe I can squeeze in an extra $65 or so for the Y. That's really the best fibro exercise and so gentle on my degenerating spine...

Also, Dear daughter appears to be well enough (not falling AT ALL anymore!) that she can go back to working in the physical therapy world. She is looking at part time... extra income for the whole family so we can keep on keepin' on! Take care all!

Hi Jeannie,

I just noticed this thread. I am so sorry that things are so difficult, but coming up north will be nice for you. It has been hot as you know what here in Michigan. But we are cooling off up here a little. Sunday and Monday are suppose to be warm again. But it has been cool enough for the blackberry picking and boy are they ever out good. I hope that you enjoy your time at Lake Lelenau (sp). Let us know how it goes. You will be in the water so that will be nice.

Hugs, Karen
