I appreciate the welcoming posts! :)
Hi and welcome to the Family!
One suggestion I would have is to locate the nearest teaching/university hospital. These folks not only have the most modern treatment but they are doing the research too. You can call and ask about finding a doctor who can treat your main condition.
In the Fibro 101 thread there's a link to a good list of these facilities worldwide but it's not a totally inclusive list. See if there's one near enough to you so you can take advantage of the best treatment around. Here's the link so you don't have to look it up right now...
Thanks for the advice...I've actually considered that, but I live so far away from my nearest universities, that I can't drive there. My fibro makes it hard for me to drive for very long--100 miles in a day is roughly my limit, which means I can't go more than about
50 miles from home. I've thought about
staying at a hotel overnight, so I could travel farther and have time to rest up. Mom can't drive anymore, due to severe osteoporosis. I'm her caretaker--I can't leave her at home alone--and her pain is even worse than mine, so she can't stay at a hotel b/c she has to sleep upright in a soft chair with several pillows. :(
Still...since you brought up the subject of universities, I wonder if it'd be worth giving them a call, to see if they have any facilities closer to home. It's an idea.... :)
Thanks for the help and encouragement!
