Isn't it frustrating trying to get a diagnosis?!? I feel for you. I have had a similar journey. Ten years ago I was dx with a "mild" case of RA. The rheumy had me take 2400 mg of Ibuprofen for a year. I was able to function, but not well, and the Ibuprofen tore up my stomach. I still have stomach issues. So, I stayed away from rheumys for as long as I could. Last May I had to go back to the doctor. The pain in my feet was so severe I could barely walk.
Long story short, this rheumy says I have Fibro, severe OA and Erosive Inflammatory Osteoarthritis. He is watching, though. I think he is thinking I may have seronegative RA. Time will tell, I guess. My RF is always normal. My CRP is elevated. On the other hand, there is obvious inflammation.
I, too have tennis elbow in both elbows, swollen, painful, red joints in my hands. I have bursitis in both hips. I may have one of those bursa removed soon. The steroid shots have stopped working.
So, I guess I am not much help. I just want you to know you are not alone. Sometimes it takes years to get a proper diagnosis, especially if you are seronegative.
