I had a similar situation happen: my husband and I went for dinner at a really nice restaurant, with dim lighting, candles on the tables...very romantic. We both ordered prime rib for dinner and when the plates were set down in front of us, I had this huge amount of food to enjoy - my prime rib, plus potatoes, sauteed mushrooms and a big rounded spoon of coleslaw.
Well, I thought it was coleslaw. With me being the coleslaw lover I am, I took a big forkful and started to eat...and realized instantly that it was fresh horseradish.
Oh my, my!! I thought I was going to die, I truly did. I detest horseradish at the best of times and this had suddenly turned into the worst of times. It took me awhile to recover from that, and oh, am I ever cautious since then!!!
I still get teased about it. ;-)
