I agree totally Denise..if only there were a med that worked and didn't cause bad side effects! I am not against meds, there are many that are very necessary. I just can't take something that makes me sick, and so far nothing has worked.
I was on Celexa for a time, similar to Zoloft. That type of drug usually does have side effects for the first 2 weeks or so, and it was like morning sickness for me. That type of nausea I can deal with, after 2 or 3 weeks it was gone, yet I never felt the med did anything for me. I was on Paxil for years before going gluten free and it absolutely did help me, yet it was constantly battling against the effects of gluten on my system. Once I went gluten free, the need for Paxil lessened and lessened until I was able to wean off of it. I was on Topamax for my headaches for well over one year...I do not remember side effects from it, but it also never truly worked for me and my neuro weaned me off of it also. He later tried me on Klonopin, which didn't work for me either. It's not that I haven't tried the meds, I have. I took Lunesta and Sonata for my sleep issues, and now use melatonin on a daily basis instead.
None of them had the horrible side effects of Meloxicam for me. This wasn't like morning sickness symptoms, these symptoms were severe to the extent I couldn't work, I could hardly get off the couch. The pain above my ribs brought tears to my eyes and the nausea was terrible..vomiting is something I rarely ever deal with. It's finally getting out of my system and yes, I am still not feeling well after all this. I still have panic/edgy feelings and mild nausea at times, but at least the major pain is gone.
It takes me so long to get over the symptoms of meds and that makes me so leary of even trying them. Yet, as you say, if there was something that I could take that doesn't cause side effects like these, I would take it in a New York minute!
