Good Morning All, I am new to the forum. I joined out of desperation to be honest. I am a 25 year old woman who was just recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia.
I was diagnosed almost 2 months ago, however, I have been struggling through it for the last 2 years. It set in on me originally in form of IBS and my doctors really thought it was just that. He put me on some heartburn medication and Welchol to help control the diarrhea. The absolutely intense stomach pains and constant diarrhea was never really under control. For awhile they thought it could be Ulcerative Colitis. My doctor made the decision last October (2010) to put me in the hospital after I had lost nearly 15 lbs in one week due to the extreme diarrhea and not being able to keep foods down. After a week in the hospital I was discharged with no diagnosis, being told that all of my tests came back negative. There was nothing wrong in my stomach, intestines, thyroid, white and red bc counts, plasma count, etc. Everything was fine... NOT! I left the hospital that day with the feeling that this was all in my head, the fatigue, anxiety, overall pain, diarrhea, stomach aches. It was all in my head right??
I left the hospital thinking I was crazy. And for 2 months, I went off of all of my medications and decided I wasnt sick... MISTAKE!
It came back on right around Christmas with a vengence. At that time, the body aches really set in, and thats when my doctor said it could be fibromyalgia. He started me on Lyrica almost 2 months ago and its been working so far for the fatigue and exhaustion. My back muscles and spine are just not responding to the medication, so we're going to try some electromagnetic therapy. We start this tomorrow. If it doesnt work, he wants to me to see a rhuematologist..
I said all of that to say this; how do you all deal with the constant day to day pain?? I am becoming so pessimistic about all of this despite my normally outgoing and optimistic attitude. I am beyond frustrated with the constant pain and fatigue. I'm 25 years old and I feel like I'm 50! Just walking around a mall with my friends hurts. Does anyone have any advice as far as specific excercises or different things I can do to naturally manage the pain and provide me some more flexability? Actually, any advice at this point would be very welcome and helpful!
