Hi Annie -
I tried a few times to use tramadol extended release, but it just doesn't do the same thing for me as the instant release. I don't get the same pain relief and certainly not the elevated mood that the instant provides - but that's me! Of course neither will cure the collapsing leg problem.
You might see if you can get an MRI of the lumbar spine to see if there's anything amiss there. X-rays will not show anything but bone, certainly not pinched nerves and slipped disks. MRI is pretty standard in the US for spine problems. I would guess EMG should probably be done also.
I get awful spasms, needle-like stabs, muscle cramping, etc, all from pinched nerves in the spine. I've had several rounds of steroid spine injections, some of which worked, some not. The last one was right in my tailbone - "caudal injection." The medicine runs up the spine a bit and bathes all the nerves running down that way to the legs. I knew right away when I stood up that it was going to help. A week later it's still great. Tailbone is tender, but I can walk, which has been a problem for months.
I got nothing good from Lyrica or ANY of the so-called fibro meds.
