Can anybody tell me there experience with Cymbalta?

Lerica, just about killed me  lol

Another thing I don't understand, is when I told my 2 Dc. I couldn't sleep, they put me on more anti-deppresents.  why

I don't need all the other med. but they insist????

Has anybody had the same experience.

Thanks,

marmar

I currently take 60 mgs of Cymbalta daily for fibro/depression.  I have noticed an improvement in my depression, but not a real change in my fibro pain.  But I've been under a lot of stress the last several weeks, and that always heightens my pain.  I didn't have bad side effects on the Cymbalta - some stomach distress for a couple days, I get night sweats if I take it at night, and I have to have something on my stomach when I take it. I hope that it works for you.  Just give it some time before you give up on it.

I have had my primary doctor insist,I told him flat out "no" not unless my rheumy says its necessary and she said to me "if your not having alot of pain" then it is beside the point.

I was on Cymbalta for six months. I stopped it. My reaction was:

heightened anxiety and depression
excessive sweating
no reduction in pain
Loss of enjoyment in life

Everyone is different. It was not a good fit for me.

I wish you well on the cymbalta. Do know that it take six to eight weeks to reach it's full effects. So be patient. Often depression meds do help you sleep better. I do believe that cymbalta is an antidepressant.

Know that I am hoping for the best results for you. Know that it takes time and patience. Keep your chin up, things do get better.

Hugs, Karen

Hi I just started cymbalta a month ago and other than having a better attitude thats what my hubby says I am not yet experiencing any pain relief. I also take amytipoline at night that helps me sleep and pain meds that help me get through the days.
Take care

I was on Cymbalta for the past year and I just took myself  off of it. The side effects were way worse then the benefits. The pain itself it helped a bit with the depression it helped a bit with but losing my sexual desire was way not worth it and the effect it has on my brain when I am trying to get off of it NOT good. I did some research and the withdrawl from it is like the with drawl from cocaine. I have dealt with the nausea, the dizzy spells the not being able to move my eyes from side to side quickly or my head without having a sick feeling, the moodiness, it was just not worth it. Just my opinion but I will NEVER go on it again.

I have been on Cymbalta for quite some time now. I had severe nausea for the first 3 or 4 days, and then I was fine. I do have a lot of problems with hot flashes and perspiration, but I don't know how much of that is drug related (the Cymbalta and/or any of the other meds I take) or menopause related (I went into surgical menopause a few years ago after my last ovary was removed).

I have had good results with the Cymbalta in regards to pain relief. It, along with my other meds, has helped me keep my pain pretty stable at a 4 or 5. I was on Lyrica prior to this, and had all the side effects - especially weight gain - so having weight loss as a potential side effect for Cymbalta is more of a benefit to me than a hindrance. I've lost 30lbs since I started on it, about a year ago.

Keep on it for at least 6 months to truly see if it will make a difference. Yes, your libido may drop, but sometimes, just going ahead and having sex anyways often turns out to feel pretty good! :-)

Good luck to you...I hope you find it helps to relieve your pain.

Hugs,
Pam
