Anyone here have constant or near constant eye pain and or scalp tenderness?

One of my first symptoms has been pain in, around and behind my eyes as if they are strained or tired. They are also light sensitive. I figure this pain must be related to the eye muscles because I know how my other muscles feel when they get used a lot.

Also, I can press in anywhere on my scalp and it is tender. It hurts most on the very top of my head. Anyone else get this?

I have the scalp tenderness.  The top of my head is the worse part, too.  It feels like I burned my scalp badly.  I've had a sensitive scalp since I was a child and hated to have my hair bushed.  Now, I keep my hair really short.  Works for me!  Oh, it doesn't hurt unless I press on it so I don't press on it!  turn

We do have light sensitivities with fibromyalgia so that's not weird.  Check out the Symptoms link in Fibro 101 and you will see that there.  I would have my eyes checked to make sure there wasn't something else going on.  Vision is so precious.  I guard mine.  You also could have sinus problems or something of that nature going on that makes you have the pain behind the eyes.  So, please be checked out on that one.  Better safe than sorry.

Hi there! I havent been diagnosed with fibro or chronic fatigue but my doctors are really leaning towards this as all my tests are exceptionaly normal. Eye pain was one of my first symptoms and it began as I was getting less and less sleep and more disturbed sleep. I noticed I also couldnt look at bright lights and even going to the movies was unbearable. I went to my eye doctor and everything came out normal I have 20/20 vision but the pain is horrible. I noticed that when the doctor would make me look right and left I would get the pain. This is actually good for your eyes because it is working out the muscles behind them. What you do is pace your index finger on yourfore head and point upwards, downwards, extreme right, and extreme left and have your eyes follow. Your eyes will hurt but doing these excercises has helped me tremendously. I also have teeth pain and ear pain and all of this turns out to be pulled muscles in my eyes. I also get pain at the top of my head, brow, and even jaw pain. I hope this helps and that you get results soon.

This sounds like it could also be a migraine. Have you had a migraine before? When you say constant, how long has it been like this? Some migraines can last at least a week.

Thanks everyone for responding to me.

@ Sherrine - I have been to the eye doctors 3 times and to an opthamologist as well. It started with an explosion of eye floaters and then the eye pain followed a couple of months after. I've had the eye pain ever since. They also couldn't see any of my floaters, but I see hundreds of them. They say there is nothing wrong with my eyes. I guess I have to believe them.

@ Dazey88 - Do your eyes still hurt or are they better now? How long did you have the eye pain for, and do you have problems with floaters that came along with this as well? Thanks for the tip regarding the eye exercises. I relate my pain to the muscles too and I figured the reason they hurt all the time is because you use those muscles all day long. If we walked all day long our legs would hurt even worse than they do without all that exercise.

@ BeachGirl808 - The eye pain has been going on for about a year now. Some days it's barely noticeable but most of the time the eye muscles feel strained.

I have a couple of other visual symptoms that I'm going to mention as well but I don't anticipate many people here experience these but who knows.

Aside from the eye pain and tons of floaters that I see, I also have persistent after images. If I look at a car tail light and look away I will see it there for a few seconds. Reading text off a computer and looking away will produce an after image of the text for up to a minute long. I also have snowy vision or visual snow on certain backgrounds where it looks like it's snowing.

Has anyone heard of any of these other crazy symptoms of mine?

Thanks again for everyone's responses and all the best to you as well.

Most of us have been tested for Lyme and I remind people about Lyme, too, if they are searching for a diagnosis. We know all about the similarities between these illnesses and remind members to be checked for Lyme if they already haven't.

Now, this is the Fibro forum. I know your heart is in the right place but I don't think the Lyme forum would appreciate our members going there and saying your members could have Fibromyalgia.

This is an old thread that you pulled up, too, so I'm locking it.
